Too inappropriate for a cache description?

Im want to hide a cache in my town about a local myth. Its not a real legend, just a tale people have been talking about for 30 years or so. It involves a man who killed his family w/ a knife and hung them from a meat hook.

Since the cache is based on the myth, and its going to be placed on a public pole at the site, I want to tell the story, in a few words....like I did above. Nothing really discreptive.

Is that too much? Are there similar caches like this? And how do I find out who my local reviewer is to ask them questions.

Thanks.

I don't see any problem with it. I would think an adult could handle that sort of story/tale and from my experience, kids don't read cache pages...they just tag along for the find. Go for it.

As for your local reviewer, just pull up a cache that is hidden close to you, scroll down to the bottom of the logs and find the Published log. You can click on the name in that log and it will take you to that reviewers profile page.

I think just as long as you specify that it is a local myth--that's nothing worse than children hear on Halloween, and besides, I doubt many kids are reading the cache pages anyway.

That why im hiding it this month. Its in honor of halloween and im really surprised nobody has hidden anything at the spot yet.

I just want to get some insight before I spend the time setting it up.

Oh and Bassanio, love the avatar. Im a huge MST3K fan.

Thanks for the advice. Im going to send my info to my local reviewer. I just wanted to check here first. My discreption does not involve severed heads, real people or real crime scenes. Its a bit tamer.

I hope I can get this up before Halloween. Gotta camo the cache next.

Sounds cool,, If I lived in Wisconsin I would hide one about Ed Gein. There is an unrelated VC were hes buried.

Is he buried in Wisconsin? I'm going to be doing a tour of Wisconsin next summer and would totally love to find that virtual.

I'm planning on doing caches at the plane crash sight of Buddy Holly's plane as well on that trip (it's a multi-state road trip).

Anyhow, I totally enjoyed that long cache description for the multi that was posted here. It was an interesting read. There's a lot of morbid local history probably everywhere. I know I've been out places where there has been some history like this never mentioned but I happened to know about it. Sometimes I think it's a little unfortunate that people don't discuss the history and just put a non-description up of "small container in pine tree" and leave it at that.

After asking I realized I could look it up too. I have the virtual marked and was kind of excited to see a bunch of caches in the area to get. So it's on my to do list now because it fits with the route I was contemplating too.

I love these little tid bits of history.

It sounds like it might be something like this one: GC2EJXA

That's a relatively new cache and there used to be another there that has since been archived. I talked to a few people that found it and both said that there was just something really creepy about the area.

There's another cache near the one I listed above that has a link to the story about the area.

Wow, that it interesting. I'd love to read about and hunt that cache!

Please don't censor it for the kids. The parents should do that. I'm not fond of things being "watered down" to protect kids, if that was your question.
