+Ruud4d
In Dutch eleven is "elf". And an "elf" is a fairy. 11 is the first number you can't count one your fingers. If you do, you've got one left, which brings us to the (German) source of the word eleven: ain lif (one left). 11 is the first Master Number in numerology Quote Link to comment

I think a red poppy should figure in the design in some way. The eleventh day of the eleventh month is a solemn occasion - perhaps a coin design which promotes Peace. Quote Link to comment

Perhaps something patriotic? I would prefer it not be patriotic, celebrating Veteran's Day, only because Veteran's Day is a US holiday. This is an international multi-event. I think a Veteran's Day version would be more appropriate than a Veteran's Day design. However, a design honoring the signing of the Armistice that ended the World War would probably work. Agreed, it has to have world wide appeal, that is not to say we would not get it downunder.. we are not savages sitting in the dirt poking berries up our noses Ok there was that one time, but it was my 21st. Australia In Australia Remembrance Day is always observed on 11 November, although the day is not a public holiday. Services are held at 11am at war memorials and schools in suburbs and towns across the country, at which "Last Post" is sounded by a bugler and a one-minute silence is observed. In recent decades, however, Remembrance Day has been partly eclipsed by ANZAC Day (25 April) as the national day of war commemoration. Quote Link to comment

+goosefraba1
What about that Pearl Jam song "once" ..... only use the homophone "ones" in place of that... okay my attempt at humor for the day. Actually was funny to me until I saw it typed out :/ Quote Link to comment

+redwingrr
Trying to flesh out my previous idea… This is lame as I've written it , but I like the basic idea, so maybe you can make something out of it… ----------------------------- 11 Events on 11.11.11 11 caches, 11 coins, 11 friends Elevannouncing eleven elevunprecedented, elevunreal events! Each will offer eleven previously elevunpublished caches. Eleven elevunparalleled new coins will be available. Elevunquestionably, major fun will be had. Elevunbridle your enthusiasm for elevunending fun! To make 11.11.11 a day to remember... Find eleven caches, Discover, move, trade and/or buy eleven coins, and Meet eleven caching friends, new or old. No penalties for overshooting the targets! ------------------------------ So, there'd be 11 versions of a coin on the theme and 11 events, each offering 11 new caches. It seems very do-able since people can discover coins at the events if they aren't into collecting/trading and, of course, they can meet other cachers there. Quote Link to comment
+Fiery Searcher
11: the cacher's dozen hmmmm Was trying to play of two other dozens: 12, the world's dozen, and 13, a baker's dozen If anything, cachers would want 14 to be their dozen, because it's all about the numbers, right? +GATOULIS
what came in my mind... was the OCEAN'S 11 movie! and you can have the 12, 13.... +redwingrr
I didn't see the movie so ? But I'm prolly the only one. More 11 stuff... probably not useful for a coin but here it is anyway: Eleven days that never were. The British Calendar Act of 1751, declared that the day after Wednesday, Sept 2nd, 1752, would be Thursday, Sept 14th. Eleven days vanished… POOF! From wikipedia: "It has been reported in some history books that a number of the public rioted after the calendar change, requesting that their "eleven days" be returned." There's even a painting entitled "Give us our Eleven Days". Quote Link to comment
avroair
In chemistry, Group 11 includes the three coinage metals copper, silver, and gold known from antiquity. It also includes the superheavy element roentgenium, which was discovered only recently! Sounds like an AE to me! Quote Link to comment
