Or will all the metal "beads" come loose or something? I see lots of photos of little beanie babies with them as collars, so I assume people either shorten them or buy shorter ones. You can find them really cheap at the hardware store, they're durable, won't have problems with the weather and can be snipped to shorten once they're attached.
