I found a travelertag in a geocache yet it was not listed as a travelbug in the inventory. Is this a competeter to geocaching .com ?

There are 'hitchhikers' that require that you log them on another site. Since they aren't part of gc.com and are not listed on the cache page, they don't tend to survive.

I just picked up a really nice coin from a geocache.  This one reads "Alabama Geocachers Association 2004".  It has a tracking number and instructions to log it at http://www.travelertags.com  This is the first time I've heard of this website for trackables?!?  Very little info on the web for them.  Unfortunately, it appears the company has gone under.  Oh well.  Cool coin though.  It's got the Geocaching logo on it.  Yeah, I'll probably drop it off into another geocache.

Maybe they have a Facebook page you can see about.

Maybe it's a leftover from an alternative caching service?. In Poland we have geomoles which are connected to the "oepn" service. Some caches are registered in both systems so you might sometimes find them while geocaching with gc.

Gee, I wonder where you found it?  Perhaps in, I don't know...Newport News Park? 

I got that coin in a trade years ago, then found out the site was defunct.  It'd sat in my caching bag for years until I discovered that the cache you found had gotten cleared out.  So I left it as cache swag.
