What is the best adhesive to use?

Take some sandpaper and rough up the surface of the bison tube. For the adhesive, use JB Weld. It will glue nearly anything to anything and it holds up well in the elements. I used it to glue the sole back on my geocaching boot last year just to give you an idea of how strong it is.

I agree with NiraD - many adhesives just won't stand up to the elements. Even Gorilla glue doesn't last that long.

I use hardware - machine screws, nuts & bolts, then use either epoxy or gorilla glues simply to prevent the nut from unscrewing. Even if the adhesive begins to deteriorate, it's still pretty good at holding the nut in place, so the bolt won't come undone even with vibration or weathering.

Here is the inside of a standard (2-3/8-inch)fence post cap.

One nut holds the bolt to the end cap; second nut holds a plastic cable tie to the bolt. The cable tie connects to a key ring. The key ring connects to just about anything. The gorilla glue holds the nuts in place so they don't unscrew.

This will NOT pull out!
