+northernpenguin Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 for those interested starting monday the 50 cal go on SALE for $7.99 Thanks! That's handy info for say, people setting up an event cache or two Though I tend to find the Princess Auto ones are usually in rough shape compared to the ones at KW Surplus Quote
+Westacular Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Tempting... thought it's a shame that their Kitchener store (for me) is in the most distant, most inconvenient non-rural location that exists within Kitchener or Waterloo city limits. Quote
+Westacular Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Hmm, the website is now showing the $8 price as starting on Tuesday. Quote
+Dr. House Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 for those interested starting monday the 50 cal go on SALE for $7.99 Cool! Good news indeed! Quote

That's handy info for say, people setting up an event cache or two Though I tend to find the Princess Auto ones are usually in rough shape compared to the ones at KW Surplus actually KW Surplus increased their prices about a month or so ago Edited September 25, 2010 by t4e Quote
+Highland Horde Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 thats great. i'll have to check out the store here on the east coast to see if they have any. I didnt even know they carried them (and I am in there a lot ) Quote
+DadandJax Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 (edited) I was at KW Surplus a few weeks ago looking for ammo cans and didn't see any. Where are they kept? And, before I make a trip down to Kitchener, does anyone know if the Kitchener Princess Auto store actually has them in stock? Edited September 25, 2010 by DadandJax Quote
+dfx Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I was at KW Surplus a few weeks ago looking for ammo cans and didn't see any. Where are they kept? the one on victoria street has plenty of them. go into the store, all the way to the back and then they're in the corner on the right. the small ones are $8-$10 now and the larger ones $12 i think. And, before I make a trip down to Kitchener, does anyone know if the Kitchener Princess Auto store actually has them in stock? we've been there a few weeks ago and they had them. don't know about right now. +DadandJax Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I must have walked right by them a couple times! Darn it. I did pick up a ton of swag so it wasn't a wasted visit. There are tons of cheap, but not quite dollar store cheap, items to use as trade items there. I'll go back. Thanks for the reply! Quote
+Treknschmidt Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 And, before I make a trip down to Kitchener, does anyone know if the Kitchener Princess Auto store actually has them in stock? Yes, they are kept in the left rear corner of the store. I agree with previous poster, they are often in rough shape but you can usually find a few good ones if you sort through them. Quote
+Flintstone5611 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I agree with the comment about PA's ammo boxes, but I find that timing it with a new shipment you can find quite a few that are in great shape (practically new) and leave those mangy ones for the people that use them for 'practical' applications, lol! +northernpenguin Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I went to Princess Auto in Mississauga today, since it's way closer to my home/work than a drive out to KW Surplus is. Needless to say, I'll have to make the long drive - this is what the ammo cans look like at the Dixie Road location as of 6:00pm today: I'd say they're overpriced at the sale price. Quote
+t4e Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 no kidding lol we didn't go today, but we did see before the cheaper ones that are supposed to be on sale now and they didn't look as bad as the ones you posted lol Quote
+MontyFam Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 There are a bunch in the Barrie store but mostly blue not camo or green... I might grab a couple for 6.99 - not bad... Quote
+KDotBlueDot Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Went tonight...to the Newmarket Store. So much blue paint caked on them that I couldn't open up half of them. There were some that were in better shape on for 12.99, but when I showed up at the cash they rang up at 19.99. They gave them to me for 12.99 but I am not sure if they were really on sale or not. The blue cans are painted inside and out INCLUDING the rubber gasket. That can't be good. Quote
+Flintstone5611 Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 So I went to the Mississauga store to confirm what NP saw, those are the only ammo cans on sale. They have a skid of 50cal that are in great shape that use a different UPC code. So the ones that are in good shape ring up at 19.99 and the junk/destroyed ones are 7.99! What a scam, they even had the thinner profile cans for 14.99, robbery ifyou ask me. But I did get something there that will definitely make it's way into my stable of caches! **sound of sinister laughter follows** Quote

The extra skid wasn't there when I went, but @princessauto noticed my photo on Twitter ... so I suspect someone "got told". I'll pop by after work, as I need some of the "thinner" ones for BFL. Quote
+northernpenguin Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Confirmed, the Mississauga location has updated their ammo can stock, and at the prices Flintstone mentioned. Cost me $33 for two of the smaller ones, pictured here : Quote
