Geocoins?

I have been planting my own geocoins in caches since September of 2001, and am credited with having coined the term (pardon the pun!). I haven't heard of a Wisconsin geocoin, though. mrgigabyte out of Vancouver, BC, worked with the Texas geocachers to get the Texas coins made -- you may want to look into doing something similar for Wisconsin if there are enough people interested. It would be cool to eventually see coins for all of the states and provinces!

I like your idea, Moun10bike, about having a geocoin for each state. I may look into seeing how many people would be interested in Colorado coins. I've been itching to design a geocoin and find someone to mint it.

Found it in a cache near near the Texas/Oklahoma line, cant seem to find any info on it, would like to turn it into a TB though.

It looks like it is from this user.

I don't know for sure, but I may have exchanged emails with this person at some point. The reverse of that coin is my adaptation of the Geocaching.com logo, and I have always offered to let people use the same reverse if they want to have coins made so that they can save on the die fee from my minter.

It depends a bit on what kind of coin you design. Most places charge a one-time die fee for each face of the coin; a fee for the coins that is based on size, material and number ordered; fees for any extras like color and number stamping; and finally shipping. My coins are about $4-5 each when ordering 100 at a time, but without color and numbering would be closer to $2.50 each. That cost would drop if I ordered in larger quantities (100 is the minumum order with my minter). My die fees were $70 per face.

Maybe if you don't mind Moun10Bike you could tell us the company you use and others could use the geocaching logo they already have set-up and we could design our own front logo.

The price you quote seems less than what I've seen just searching around, especially if you do it without colour.

The company that I use for my coins is D & R Military Specialties. They have a web site at http://www.militaryspecialties.com, but unfortunately don't give their price breakdown there.

The person I have dealt with is Rick (the "R" of D & R), and he is very good with answering any questions you may have. He already knows that I have given the okay for any geocachers to use my reverse face die, so just tell him that you are a geocacher and have spoken to me about using it.

By the way, does anyone know what is necessary for the "Delete Message..." option to work? While correcting a typo in this post, I accidentally double posted. I am unable to delete either version. I keep getting a message saying I can't delete a messge that has replies, yet as of the moment I am writing this, there are no replies.

I think they disabled that about a week ago. Don't know why.

It's not a geocoin, but this might be of interest:

I was looking around for items that I could possibly use as a signature item, and found this website for squashed pennies: http://www.geocities.com/eureka/suite/9098/

I inquired about the costs, and it's $140 to create a die and 300 coins (min. order, I guess). He'll do 1,000 on the first 'printing' for $200. He keeps the die, and if you need more later can make them at 100/$10 plus postage.

I walk the Maze of Moments, but everywhere I turn to, begins a new beginning, but never finds a finish..
