How do I add a friend

I keep trying to add my friend and all it does is send her a message, not an actual request.

First make sure that that the person you're trying to add has edited their account to be ABLE to accept friend requests. i believe that option is OFF my default. Once your friend enables allowing friend requests, you will see the little check box when mailing them (send friend request).

 

When you send that message, make sure you check the little box below the text box that says "send friend request." If you do that they'll get the friend request along with your message.
