Questions about a cache I am planning on hiding

I am planning on hiding a cache and i have a couple of questions. It is going to be very close to a Mystery cache, the best reading I can get is that it is less than 528 feet from the spot where you get the information for the mystery cache, but is about 550 feet from the actual container of the mystery cache. Does the 528 feet rule apply to the coordinates to get the information or is it measured from the actual cache location?

Should I just e-mail the local reviewer and see what he says?

If the first location on the mystery cache is getting information from a pre-existing feature you should be fine. If it is something the CO placed there it is a nogo. All physical cache hides need to be more than 528 feet from any other physical parts of any other cache.

I'm pretty sure GOF's Sock Puppet is correct, but contacting The Seanachie or TN Cacher for some guidance would help work out any issues before you publish, assuring when you do it goes through quickly.

I've got to get back up to my mothers, you and someone else have given me a reason....... well that and Mom!

Email her and tell her I'm going to take those ammo cans back if she doesn't hide them soon. Also tell her that her micros are in the 50cal ammo can and to get them hidden, also!

From the guidelines:

"Cache containers and physical stages should generally be separated by a minimum of 0.1 miles (528 feet or 161 m). A physical stage is defined as any stage that contains a physical element placed by the geocache owner, such as a tag with the next set of coordinates or a container. Non-physical caches or stages including reference points, trailhead/parking coordinates and question to answer waypoints are exempt from this guideline."

How is the information gathered for the mystery? If it's a plaque/monument, the "Non-physical caches or stages including reference points, trailhead/parking coordinates and question to answer waypoints are exempt from this guideline" part of the guideline seems like you could place your cache within 528 feet of the first stage of the mystery, but if there's a physical container there, then it would have to be more than 528 feet away.

This is how I interpret the guideline, but I'm not a reviewer, so your best bet is to check with them.

I think the above advice is correct. A lot depends on what is at the posted coordinates of the mystery cache. I have a couple of mystery caches where there is a clue at the posted coordinates, but it's a clue natural to the environment (it was there before the cache was listed and will be there long after it is archived). In those cases, there is no proximity issue with the posted coords; a Traditional could be placed right on top of the coords and it wouldn't be a problem.

I have another mystery cache where there is a clue at the posted coordinates, but it comes in the form of a magnet that I've placed there. In that case there is a physical hide of some sort, and so a Traditional within 528 feet wouldn't work. And that was the interpretation of our local reviewer; a Traditional was actually placed with *precisely* the same coordinates as the posted coords for the mystery, but because that waypoint was physical in nature, the Traditional wasn't able to be published.

It's definitely true that, as others have said, checking with your local reviewer is the right thing to do - the advice by Andronicus to submit the cache now but with "cache is ready" unchecked to engage in a dialog about proximity with the reviewer is excellent. I do that with almost every new cache that I submit, before I go too far down the road of prepping the container and the cache page. But I also think that bringing the issue to the forums made sense, so don't be afraid to pop back in with more questions.

For the mystery cache, the coordinates lead you to a plaque where you get the information, the physical part of the cache is not at the coordinates location, so I should be good to go. This is what I thought but I just wanted to check around first. Thanks for all the advice!
