So today my etrex legend that I've taken all over the world started acting up. I'm looking at a Dakota 10 on sale for 200$ would this be a good deal? I Geocache regularly. How much is the additional software necessary?

$200 is a pretty good price for the Dakota 10. But, you seem to use the GPSr quite a bit, wouldn't the extra memory and built-in compass options on the Dakota 20 make it worth saving a few extra $'s for?

 

If money is indeed tight and you are SURE the lack of an external memory slot isn't going to be a problem, you'll probably like the Dakota 10 just fine

I'm having an issue with my dakota 20. Not to try and sway you but it really irks me. Compared to my 60csx and forerunner 110 the dakota odometer shows 0.6 mi for every mile the other two show. The other two appear more accurate too.

So just bought the oregon 550 instead.....the price was $438 at the factory outlet store. Way more than I wanted to spend but I've been enjoying geocacheing for 6 years now and don't see that changing...plus I can't tell you how many times I've said "Why don't I have a camera" while cacheing...
