Apple Mac friendly GPS receivers?

I guess, I am getting tired of bringing my Triton to work so I can load caches. There are some instances where would be nice to just load few caches directly from my Mac which is the only computer at home.

 

Are there any GPS receivers that play nicely with Mac? My main requirements are: ability to load Google maps (or any street maps) for bicycling and paperless geocaching support. I do not need topo, compass, built-in camera, etc.

 

I am only interested in GPS units that have native Mac software. No Bootcamp/Parallels stuff.

The newer Garmin devices work well with Macs. The Mac-native software is pretty good too:

There are lots of free maps as well for the Garmins. For example, depending on where you live, there are specialized bicycling maps available which are based on Open Street Map data, e.g.,

yup garmins work good. ive got a macbook and an etrex and an oregon. it all works well

it's decent, but consider the dakota 20 if the price different isn't too big: extendable storage and 3-axis compass can make quite a difference. and while you're at it, also check out the oregon 450, they go for quite cheap right now.

The Garmin 450 and the Magellan Explorist GC are Mac compatible.

Thanks. I will check Dakota and Oregon. As far as I know, GC does not allow you to load maps by the user.

Garmin is the way to go for non-Windows users. Garmin has a Mac application for map management, everything beyond maps can be done with basically any operating system. I do nearly all of the management of my Oregon 300 within Linux, no special software needed. Everything but Garmin's IMG map format is based on open standards (GPX, KML, etc) now.

How do you get the Explorist GC to be Mac compatible? We even installed MacCaching on my Mac Book Pro and cannot get it to move to the GPS.

...but I'd still recommend any current Garmin over Magellan for Mac users.
