+GetTheLoot Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 So, why is it that I really have no clue where to start on almost any puzzle cache? LOL Is my mind too literal? Quote
+addisonbr Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Puzzle caches often fall into a couple of broad categories... the explicit kind, and the "where is the puzzle" kind. The explicit kind might be something like an incomplete Sudoku grid with a few colored cells, and the instruction that those cells will deliver you the coordinates. The "where is the puzzle" kind is probably what's giving you a headache. You might try ePeterso2's marvelous "Puzzle Solving 101" series. It tackles these "where is the puzzle" caches head-on and by the time you're done, you'll feel like a champ. Here's a bookmark list: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...ef-901807ba9c98 Quote

Look at the ratings and start with the easy ones first then work your way up to the harder puzzles. Keep trying and good luck. Quote
+Photographer Jim Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Totally agree that the "Puzzle Solving 101 Series" is a great resource for getting oriented to puzzle caches. You can solve the sample puzzles and check your solution with the online solution checker, so you can see how you are doing even if you live a long way from Florida and can't actually go out and find the caches.
