+SpiderTracks Posted March 26, 2002 Posted March 26, 2002 I want to take pics of bugs at a Virtual Cache and then log their visit. Question is: When logging the visit will I be able to attach the bug to the virtual cache? Quote
Zuckerruebensirup Posted March 26, 2002 Posted March 26, 2002 You should be able to. I'd just make sure that after 'placing' the bug into the virtual cache, you remember to 'retrieve' it again, so people don't get the mistaken impression they can go looking for it there. Quote
gm100guy Posted March 26, 2002 Posted March 26, 2002 Can you do this by posting a note on the bug page? gm100guy Quote

I don't believe a note will do the trick, you have to actually place the bug from your inventory into the cache. Otherwise, it won't show up as ever having been linked to the cache page. Quote
Cachemere Posted March 26, 2002 Posted March 26, 2002 If you check the note by JeepNAz posted February 18th, you'll see our team dropped off a travel bug in our cache "FORE". I know it's not a virtual so I guess I could be wrong? That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Quote

Curiously, it seems you can drop off a TBug at a cache even if you log a "not found"... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk Quote
+SpiderTracks Posted March 28, 2002 Author Posted March 28, 2002 Thanks everyone for you help. I'm new at this and really appreciate your input. I decided I had to just "place" the bugs and then "retrieve" them at the same time after leaving my note. The idea came when I picked up 2 bugs 60 miles from my town and both had goals of traveling far from here. I really wanted to give feedback to the original bug owner and also mark their stay here in town. I was lucky enough to have a distinct landmark fairly close to my house and decided that I'd like to have all bugs that visit me get attached for a brief stay at the giant green dinosaur... and get a picture taken on its tail. Here's how it turned out... a bit "posty" by myself, but the key thing is to let the bug's owner, perhaps a young person that would be anxious for news, get some immediate feedback. http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=2551 Thanks again. Zuckerruebensirup Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 Cute touch to post your notes as letters 'from' the travel bug himself. Quote

Toast822 Posted July 11, 2002 Posted July 11, 2002 So, I guess touch and gos are cool? Then I'm going to do one that will follow me around in my travels (since I work for an airline)... Awesome Quote
