+abiherts
A TB that I have on my watchlist has been logged by someone in the States. After I emailed them (TB last seen in Herts), they replied saying "Greetings from across the pond! We recently realized that we didn't have take a Travel Bug or GeoCoin, but could "discover" it. Through a Google image seach we found it and logged it." I would never dream of logging a TB or GC without having personally handling it. Any trackables that I have photographed, I have edited the picture by erasing the code with the Paint programme and then posting the picture onto the site. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
The sad part is, if you look at Groundspeaks own "View TB photo's" page, where they show photo's of TB from cachers... Many TB photo's show the tracking number... If GS can't follow the rules. I check photo's of my own TB's and have no hesitation in deleting the logs if an email doesn't solve the problem. +Alibags
I think the 'virtual logging' of TBs (ie those that you have not actually had in your hands) is actively discouraged and I know that some 'virtual' TBs have actually been locked (cannot be discovered any more) by Groundspeak. +Matrix
Funnily enough I had someone discover one of my coins yesterday which is odd as it has never been out of my hands and the cacher hasn't found a cache for a while I have emailed them and asked where they saw it Quote Link to comment
+burtsbodgers
Hi Not condoning this but i logged a trackable that i saw on a youtube video, mostly to let the owner know it had been viewed. However if someone wants to discover TBs and the like virtually, then let them, it does no harm and does not alter the mileage or affect the TB in any way. It justmeans you get 1 more email about it. +currykev
Maybe we should report such activity to the police. Quote Link to comment

You could have written a note Funily enough I came across a new cache listing today where the owner had put the tracking number of a coin they had put in the cache on the cache page, so I emailed them. +abiherts
Hmm at no point did I mention the police... Personally I'd prefer that cachers only log any of my trackables after having personally handled them, they are registered as mine but having not come across this practice before I thought I would mention it here. I just deleted both the logs, as the coin is definitely here in a box in my house. Quote Link to comment
