Messed up bug logs

My wife an I lovingly bought and created our first Travel Bug a while back. We are from Idaho and wanted to give the bug a good start so on a trip to Utah we dropped him off. None of these miles are tracked though as he never made it into a cache here in Idaho. Is there a way to specify a bug's origin that I am missing? I would like this little guy to have those miles tacked.

The way it works now, wherever you start your bug is where his mileage starts. Probably the only thing you could have done is to place him in a local cache, then pick him up and take him to Utah. I'm not sure - I'm assuming you can move your own bug from cache to cache and log the miles.
