dustymax Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) I'd like to delete a geocache from my device that I've already found and logged. Is this possible? I can't find anything about this in the manual or when I try HELP on the GPS. Edited August 28, 2010 by dustystaudt Quote
pppingme Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 You need to delete the .gpx file that contains that cache, you can only do this while its hooked to a computer, not on the unit itself. Quote
Z_Statman Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Are you talking about the list under Where to>Recent finds? If so then can't except by a Hard Reset Quote
Bear and Ragged Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) Are you talking about the list under Where to>Recent finds? If so then can't except by a Hard Reset It's part of the Setup>Reset>Delete All Waypoints. You can also reset the Trip Data, and clear the Current Track. All worth clearing, every so often! The Found caches number can be cleared/set to your current number (if on a milestne hunt) by going to Setup>Geocaches>Found Geocaches Edited August 29, 2010 by Bear and Ragged Quote
Z_Statman Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 It's part of the Setup>Reset>Delete All WaypointsThis is different from clearing out Found caches Quote
Chrysalides Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Do you mean the Oregon 550 or the Nuvi 500? Or some other models? I see at least 2 other models with "500" in the name. For the Oregon and Nuvi 500, if your caches are loaded as GPX files, Potato Finder's answer is the only way to do it. If the cache is in its own GPX file, just delete that one (this is the case if you use "Send to GPS"). Quote

jimnsusie Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I'd like to delete a geocache from my device that I've already found and logged. Is this possible? I can't find anything about this in the manual or when I try HELP on the GPS. If you are talking about the nuvi 500 I will tell you how I do it. With my nuvi 500 I hook it up to my laptop and when the window opens to view what is inside the nuvi I open the one that has all the files on the nuvi. On mine it is always the one at the bottom. Then open the garmin folder and scroll down to geocache visits. I high light that file and then delete it. If you want to delete all the caches in the unit that are loaded on it but not found yet scroll up to GPX file and open it. Then I high light each file in it ( usually 2 or 3 files inside the folder) and delete each one. Then you can reload the unit with more caches. I use GSAK for this and it works great. If you are talking about a different unit then disregard the above. Hope this helps. Quote
