You might want to check out the Knowledge Books for other information regarding cache publication, but here is the jist of what it says:

 

 

We understand that it can be a nerve-wracking time: waiting for your cool, new geocache to be unleashed.

 

All geocaches are reviewed by volunteers, and we ask that they contact you within 3 days of submitting your geocache

in colorado most of the time it takes about 6 to 12 hours but have seen as long as 24 hours

If more than 72 hours has gone by and your cache still hasn't been published, go back to the cache page and see if there are any additional notes by the reviewer. If they have any questions, they'll post them to the cache page.

 

Editing to add that they'll post them in the logs section.
