muscliffemouse Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I was sure I saw caches all along the Bourne Valley Greenway Walk/Cycle Poole to Bournemouth via Coy Pond etc, but now cant find any and was wondering if I just dreamt it. anybody know what happened? Quote
+The Blorenges Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hello Muscliffemouse, welcome to these forums I don't know about those caches, it's not our area, but it's always possible that the caches have been archived (removed/retired/no longer listed) by either the owner or possibly a reviewer. Caches don't live for ever and old ones go, new ones appear... This section of the forums is for discussing Geocaching Topics in the broadest sense but for more "UK-specific" information it might be better if you ask your question over in the UK and Ireland forum where somebody more local to Bournemouth may have an answer. I! Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 The owner has archived the whole series (and then some). See pages 2 and 3 here. Quote
Keystone Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I am moving this thread from the Geocaching Topics forum to the United Kingdom and Ireland forum. Quote
+Dorsetgal & GeoDog Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) I was sure I saw caches all along the Bourne Valley Greenway Walk/Cycle Poole to Bournemouth via Coy Pond etc, but now cant find any and was wondering if I just dreamt it. anybody know what happened? The Bourne Valley Greenway caches had probably reached their natural end as they kept getting muggled, so Fudgeman archived them to open the area up for others to set. Moral of the story: When you see 'em, go seek 'em Edited August 15, 2010 by Dorsetgal & GeoDog Quote

The series had been active for 2 years and I decided to archive them so that other cachers could place caches in the area. I'm trying to get away from micro caches and want to focus more on quality caches instead of quantity caches. Quote
+currykev Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Nice work Fudgeman. Those city micros can be hard work maintaining. I'm a fan of archiving after a while too. In London, it 100% allows for others to place new caches. There's been a good half a dozen near the London Eye in recent years. And more to follow I'm sure. I look forward to another visit to Bournemouth to do those new caches. Quote

There's nothing worse than living somewhere where you've done all the caches and have to travel miles just to grab a few caches. I've stopped caching locally for a bit and now have lots of new local caches to go out and grab sometime. Quote
+Delta68 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I've stopped caching locally for a bit ... I keep meaning to leave a few local ones so we have some nice and local start/end point for 'Maximum distance in a day' stats... ... but temptation gets the better of me Mark Quote

The plan was to refresh Oxford by opening it up to all the new cachers that had come along since placing all these caches, sadly the response seems to have been rather slow . Quote

I did notice that , as I'm looking forward to visiting Oxford on a day out again. Quote
