+tvchick
Hey all! Sorry for the likely very basic question, but I was wondering... how exactly do you attach a magnet to your caches? As I become of a fan of geocaching, I'm pondering placing a cache, but I don't have the technical know how. For example, how do those metallic tins get magnetic? Like Denzel Washington says in Philadelphia, explain it o me like I'm a four-year-old... thanks! -tvchick. Quote Link to comment
+bittsen
SOme people use glue. Some people use EPoxy. I take neodymium (super strong) magnets and then put them inside shrink tube (stuff that you can buy at Harbor Freight) and then glue them to the plastic containers on the inside. This is where a 4 year old says "why?". Welcome to the forums. Quote Link to comment
blue163
I have seen a couple of methods: 1) Epoxy a large magnet to the side of the container, and if the target is also not magnetic, epoxy a magnet to it. 2) Use a container with a thin lid, or very strong magnets, and put the magnet inside the container and let the magnet do its magic Quote Link to comment

knowschad
Generally speaking , if you put the magnet inside of the container, there is little need for any adhesive. The magnetic attraction will hold the magnet in place. The only exception might be for the <adjective deleted> that can't figure it out when it comes to rehiding your cache. Quote Link to comment

And I've used PVC cement, ABS cement and even super glue. It all depended on the application. Quote Link to comment
