+flugella
Hi all! Newbie geocacher here with 3 finds to my name! I wondered what the best things to leave in a cache are? I was thinking of getting pens, badges etc, would that be a good idea? Rach x Quote Link to comment
+LaxRef93
I usually just like to leave my signature in the logbook. I really only trade things if my 10-year-old daughter is with me and sees something in there she likes. And welcome to geocaching! Fun, isn't it? I really love it. +randco
I always leave my name and date in the log. On caches that are big enough I leave a signature piece. Mine are about the size of a Scrabble tile with an X wood burned on one side and randco on the other. I usually have a little bit of miscellaneous swag with me that I leave in large caches. +Bear and Ragged
Try NOT to leave your GPS or car keys! (UK cachers can be found over in the UK and Ireland side of these forums HERE link Quote Link to comment
hoosier guy
Try to find a singnature swag that says someting about you. Around here there is a cacher who puts in poker chips with the family team name on one side and a drawing of the family on the other. Something unique is always better. Good luck and have fun! alsaas
for most traditional and smaller caches i put in random objects that i find in my basement. (it tends to be my siblings old small toys) but they never notice so i continue to do it Quote Link to comment

Millerhouse5
We go as a family to find caches. If you have kids, have them go thru their toys & fill a sandwich bag with small items they don't feel they'll miss much! I myself like to take coupons for goodies along to drop in caches. For example I left behind a coupon for a free McDonalds smoothie the other day. My husband just signs the log & isn't worried about swapping swag but the kids & I love seeing what kind of tresure we'll uncover!!! Quote Link to comment
+michigansnorkelers
I like leaving "OFF" towlettes, hand sanitizer, the new dollar coins, old indian head nickels, or any other really unusual things that I would like to have myself. Quote Link to comment
+Team MacKenzie
I do a really careful walk through our local dollar store to find neat stuff. For adults: compressed towels, AA & AAA battery storage cases, carabiners. For the kids everything from glow in the dark animals to 'disney character' things. For everybody - pens, erasers, insect repellant wipes, emergency rain ponchos. I don't trade very often, mostly I use the stuff to bring a good cache up to 'clean and well-stocked' so that kids out with their parents caching aren't disappointed. And of course, I have my own signature item that gets left in caches! Quote Link to comment
