+vvp Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Is anyone aware of a bicycle mount for this GPS. The only mounts I have found are for different models. It has a spot on the back where a rail could slide into http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT...ll3oK1hvQhLZQs= Quote
+musthavemuzk Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 hmmmm guess i hadnt thought about mounting ours to the bike.... Quote
gpsblake Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) I tried to use rubber bands to mount my Explorist GC to my bicycle on top of the headlights. Unlike other GPS units though, the GC isn't flat on it's back so it wobbles quite a bit. IT's not a bad unit for bike use except that average MPH feature is very inaccurate and the fonts are small. +Walts Hunting Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I have Ram Mounts for my different vehicles and devices. There is no better system made. Here is the page for Explorist Ram Mount Explorist Quote
+simplyred Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 A video I put together a while back showing my GPS ram mount. Works great. Quote
+Deadelm Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The OP is asking about the Explorist "GC". They have not come out with one yet so I made my own with a file and a reflector mount. Works great! Quote
+musthavemuzk Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 verry creative and it looks like it works Monty Quote
+vvp Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Thats a great idea! I think I'll try something like that. I was looking at those Ram Mounts, but the shape of the GC looks different. Thanks for all the responses The OP is asking about the Explorist "GC". They have not come out with one yet so I made my own with a file and a reflector mount. Works great! Quote
+Dragery Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Nice rigging there in the pics, I'm interested to know has your gps ever vibrated out or gotten loose after biking on less-than-smooth terrain? I like the idea, I may have to try it. Quote

frozenflyboy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 That is a very elegant lightweight solution. I will try that with my Colorado. I plan to screw the unit to the rubber/plastic belt clip thingy that comes with the Colorado. Thanks for the great idea! Quote
+John in Valley Forge Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The OP is asking about the Explorist "GC". They have not come out with one yet so I made my own with a file and a reflector mount. Works great! That looks exactly like what I what for mine. I've been trying to figure out the inside shape of that slot. Any chance you could publish the dimension? Maybe a tracing of the final shape with measurements so we can duplicate it? Quote
+Deadelm Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Not precise, but these are the dimensions I have that fit the slot: 30mm slot length 15mm x 2mm at the base 10mm x 1mm at the tip It will not slip out unless you have it mounted upside down Quote
+John in Valley Forge Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Thanks! I'll be getting my Dremel tool out and start shaping one tonight. Quote
cmperson12 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 deadelm how much would you charge me to make me a mount like that Quote
+Oystercatcher Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Not cheap, but http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/index.cfm/product/magellan-explorist-handlebar-mount/fuseaction/products.detail/code/A2210088/group/273/level/3 I'm going to try to make one (if i can find my file), then probably end up buying this one.
