+EVIL Ninjection
So far I have only heard of 6 or 7. Does it go any higher? Quote Link to comment
+Taoiseach
I have a ten WP multi, but I'm quite certain it goes much higher than that. Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
I've got one, about a dozen or so waypoints, tied to a virtutal then a nice 13 mile hike, with about 4,000 ft. elevation gain. Up one mountain, hike down then drive to another mountain, then up again. Quote Link to comment
+SwineFlew
Who will be the first to do a 100 way-points multi? Quote Link to comment
+Ambrosia
I have a tendancy towards making fairly long multis (both in amount of stages, and in mileage). Two of my multis: Sanctuary is a 12 stage multi that takes you on a 2 mile loop walk through a wetlands area. Miss Veedol, an 8 stage multi that takes over 17 miles to complete. But I've heard of multis that take you across many states, etc. I'm sure that people have links to some of those. Quote Link to comment
+Wes_and_Miles
GCMDN5 is a 45 stage multi. I have see at least one more 45 stage cache in this area but it was identified as unkown (puzzle). Edited August 7, 2010 by Wes_and_Miles Quote Link to comment
+drfred
I can't get people to do a 2 stage multi here. If people got a smiley for each stage I'll bet there would be more interest. The most I've done was one with 18. My longest hidden is a 7 stager - only 5 finders in over 2 years. Quote Link to comment
+TABjuggler
Oh, I really want to do a 45 stage multi! Quote Link to comment

At least in the Netherlands we still have a decent amount of multi-lovers. But 10 stages indeed is nothing. I can't be bothered to look around, but I suppose the various multi's I've done over 10 or 20 km will have a decent amount of waypoints. I suppose as a cache owner the logs from people doing multi's are a lot more fun to read than the various variations on 'tftc'. Quote Link to comment
+ninasger
GCTKPB is 35 stages. And must of them is in bunkers from 2 World War. My favorite cache. Quote Link to comment
+Harry Dolphin
I did a great 32 stage muli. Takes most people three days to finish. It's had 168 finds in two years! Quote Link to comment

Smilies for stages wouldn't encourage me more. Problem is you never know how many miles away you're going to end up (at least here you don't people don't put it in their descriptions). So I could have a whole trip planned and that multi could take me 20 miles away from where I want to be to get the other caches. That being said I think the most stages I've done is 5 or 6. I had a dream about a 16 stage one though. Quote Link to comment
+hukilaulau
I once turned a 6 stage multi into 8 stages by finding 2 of the stages twice. I was young and didn't understand the "go to nearest" function on my GPS. Quote Link to comment
+NYPaddleCacher
Who will be the first to do a 100 way-points multi? Hopefully, never. That has nothing whatsoever about a non-preference for multi caches (just did one this morning) but a desire to stop promoting every aspect about geocaching as some form of competition. It seems that lately geocaching is becoming all about more finds in a day, more finds in general, harder finds, more extreme terrain, and on and on. It's getting old. Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
I did one with (as I remember...) 12 stages. The final was about 200 feet from the first stage! Quote Link to comment
+LightHouseSeekers
We had a series in this area based on a popular board game that was essentially a 45 stage multi-multi. You had to find several traditional caches in each color group ie:GREEN to get the clues needed to reach the final of that group. Then the clues of those finals were needed to locate the FINAL of the series. Quote Link to comment

+Natman3400
Im planing on going to the local container supply store (Now with ammo boxes big enough to fit your self in!), and buying a bunch of stuff, then making a huge multi. Quote Link to comment
+jmd65
GCKGF2 in central Texas has 40 redirectors with a final cache. The redirectors were hidden by 36 people. It has everything from engraved plates to ammo cans, and even a projected waypoint, all spread over a 111 mile journey. My brother and I are currently at #30 in the series, caching as we get our schedules in sync. Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
The final hike is easy, but to know where the location is, well thats a combination of many a hike on this cache Quote Link to comment

There's nothing that says a long multi is a bad multi. I have one that is tons of stages, over 180 km that's laid out in a Rally format. Technically there are 4 physical stages, but you gather information and make routing decisions at dozens of points. GC1BZ9B - Glen Rally So far, most of the people who have been subjected to that cache have enjoyed it. I'm sure it's possible to lay out a 100 stage multi that's most enjoyable. Or you could redirect someone to every lamp post in that corner of the town - it's all up to the cache owner to decide how enjoyable it's going to be. Quote Link to comment
+Team Geo-Rangers
I did one with (as I remember...) 12 stages. The final was about 200 feet from the first stage! Recall a long and tough multi in the Scottsdale area that may be the same one that AZcachemeister references. There was another smaller but very cool multi on the west side of PHX too. Graldrich was the escort and both were really well done and challenging. Phoenix has some terrific hides and hiders. As for the final being 200 feet from the first stage, did a multi in a city in Colorado where the final is hidden at the first waypoint =0 feet! There was at least 6 stages too. Talk about embarassment when the final is hidden at the first waypoint, and you didn't check it first, but took off upon seeing the coordinates on the post for WP2. Will not name the city since multi-caches are few and far between the plethora of traditional caches, but it is a great idea and hopefully other evil cachers will be inspired and emulate it in in their area! If the thread intent is to emphasize "longest," then best to cite challenge caches that require more significant travel distance than stages in a multi, no matter how many. Some require the cacher to cross multiple state and country borders to claim just one smiley. It's all good - when you let it be! Quote Link to comment
+lamoracke
did a multi whose number of waypoints varied depending how lucky you got. It could have been 12 waypoints, could have been say 20 depending how many dead ends you got. I forget the exact #, but I took at least 16 waypoints. All bushwhacking every one of them.
