+Capt Prozac
Nuts, just found out I am deploying (again) to fly missions over Afghanistan. I will be bringing four travel bugs with me on my sorties. Any ideas where I should have the travel goals for these things be after I return? I will attach them to US flags like the ones posted in the Enduring Freedom Geocache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=16050 Capt Prozac Quote Link to comment
+Ttepee
I for one would like to give them the goal of getting you back safely! Quote Link to comment
+clatmandu
After the bugs get you back safely, I think they should go to the nearest cache in these locations: ground zero, NYC Pentagon. somewhere in DC? or just outside DC? sorry, these are the only 2 I can think of at this time Quote Link to comment
+LoCache
Wherever THEY go, I just wish for YOU to go do your thing and come home safely! Be safe! Geo ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex Quote Link to comment

USMC/USAF
My most sincere wishes for your safe voyage and gratitude for serving. I agree with clatmandu to bring travel bugs back, make a note about their mission & plant @ NY, DC, & Pennsylvania - these events are the reason for your sorties. My heart is with you. +infosponge
I've seen some compelling reports that indicate that Flight 93 was probably shot down to prevent it from reaching targets near Washington D.C. I'm guessing we'll never definitively know the truth, but that does not diminish in the least the heroism of those on board who were resisting the hijackers and gave their lives. +Capt Prozac
Wow, Heroes of Fligth 93 sounds appropriate. I knew Leroy Homer (the copilot on that flight). I'll definitely send a travel bug that way. I am also attempting contact with the creator of this cache. I'll send some flags that flew over Afghanistan to be placed in this cache. Good idea on NYC as well. I live not too far away so I will try to get photos of the bugs near ground zero before I send the bugs on their way. Capt Prozac Quote Link to comment
+Quest Master
The cache owner and the people of Shanksville, Pennsylvania will be honored to have these flags at the memorial site for the Heroes of Flight 93. Johnny Quote Link to comment
+MissJenn
Capt Prozac, I am just curious what your status is now? And of course, what the status of the bugs is, too.... Also, have you seen SEPTEMBER 11th 1777? Last thing: I just picked up Rick Ranger TB this past weekend so I wonder if there is a way Rick can meet one of your bugs. Hmm.... +Capt Prozac
The Darth Vader TB is doing well and has 6 missions over Afghanistan under his belt (I was really sick for the first week so the TB didn't fly). I have posted several photos from the flights on the Darth Vader TB page for those of you interested. This bug should be back in circulation in the US around the second week of May. I'll probably re-release this combat veteran near Tampa Fl. Quote Link to comment
+Salvelinus
I'll be glad to get some to the "Heroes of Flight 93" cache for you. I live about an hour from it and have been wanting to visit it. I can't think of a better reason to visit other than that. Let me know. God Speed to you and the rest of our boys. Smoochnme "When the last tree is cut... "When the last stream is polluted... +Capt Prozac
Actually, the distance is much further than 8,000 miles. Darth Vader is back in the US. It just needs to be released. So when it is logged, the distance will be closer to 15,000 miles. We also couldn't fly direct because of diplomatic clearances so this bug even travelled farther than what is logged. +Ttepee
Sorry, don't know records but I just wanted to say .... Excellent TB story Love the pictures. So honestly now Capt... what do the guys say when you pull out darth and start playing with him in the cockpit?... hehehe I tried helping out an army guy TB a while back and felt pretty silly stopping traffic at the gates to West Point so I could get a pic of him in front of the gates, but what a blast. Haven't had that much fun alone playing with a toy since I was a kid Quote Link to comment

+Capt Prozac
Only the crew on the aircraft saw the TB. One guy thought I was a huge geek. The other two thought it was pretty funny and kept suggesting pictures that needed to be taken throughout the deployment. Quote Link to comment

TriCityGuy
You could have the bug travel to sensitive countries like Afghanistan. I know having had a security clearance that are off-limits and notify-before-you-consider-going countries. Like Somalia, Yemen, North Korea, Cuba, Arkansas, Chad, etc. (I might have made one of those up Or a goal to places we've had military actions to help people in. Kuwait, Vietnam, Korea, most of Europe, etc. Quote Link to comment

+Capt Prozac
The first travel bug from the Afghanistan trip is released. It's mission is pretty short. Basically, take the flag and put it on the memorial where Flight 93 went down at the Heros of Flight 93 geocache. The TB is currently at the Happy Hunting geocache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=20416 Thanks to anyone who delivers this. Capt Prozac Quote Link to comment
