+Chrysalides
I see pictures in forum topics. How do I upload picture in my reply You need a place to host them. For example, imageshack, flickr or Picasa. You then need to get a URL to that image. Not the page showing the image, but the image itself. Note that some of the sites will not let you directly link to an image, or only allows you to link to certain images. Then you need to use BB code to display the image using the URL. +bittsen
Once you have the image URL (address) in your forum post, highlight it and then click the little tree icon. It will add the code for you. Quote Link to comment
+MR57
Thanks for the answer. Haven't a clue what it means though. A bit out of my league. Quote Link to comment
+Chrysalides
Thanks for the answer. Haven't a clue what it means though. A bit out of my league. Start with registering an account with one of the online services. Let's pick imageshack.us since you can use it without registering an account. Go to http://imageshack.us/ Upload an image. When you're done uploading, you'll see the image thumbnail. Below that is a whole bunch of stuff. The second item says "Direct Link". Copy the URL in the box labeled "Direct Link". It will look something like: http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/6824/something.jpg You need to put this inside your forum post, in between the image tags (or click on the icon if you're not using "Fast Reply"). To put it in between image tags manually, you want to type: [img=http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/6824/something.jpg] where you want the image to appear. Hope that's clearer. +DragonsWest
A word on hosting images on your own site_ So far I've been lucky. I host images on my personal website, for which I am granted a certain amount of bandwidth each month. I do have an early warning system, should one image suddenly appear on twitter and become the darling of the internet (for about 15 minutes) and attempt to rocket me into the poor house. It did happen, once, a couple years ago where someone decided to hotlink one of my images (probably a demotivational poster) which was about 100K in size. It was popular. I received an email in the middle of the day that my bandwidth limit had been hit and the meter was running. By the time I got home I owed an additional $87. I was able to identify the image which was so entertaining and deleted it. By that time my tab was over $120. Lesson learned and a cheap one at that. If it had been on twitter I could still be paying for it. My provider allows me to cut off access at a certain percentage, so I may manage things carefully. Quote Link to comment
