+Frenchyx2 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I joined this Geocache about a month ago or so. I have input the data required for the new cache I did. I understand that the information has to be gone over by a volunteer of sorts. It presently makes about 12 days since I inpouted the info and my cache has still not been posted. As a new person to this hobby, I find it to be very frustrating. Not to mention how poorly designed this website is as far as navigation through it is concerned. Quote
+Markwell Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 (edited) Were there any issues with the cache? Did you resolve them? Did you contact the reviewer to let you know you resolved them? Edited July 19, 2010 by Markwell Quote
+Touchstone Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 You might want to make sure that your Listing is Enabled as well. The Volunteer Reviewer won't typically *see* your Listing in a Disabled state. There are three ways to Enable your Listing: 1. There's a link on the right hand Navigation Menu. 2. There's a checkbox on the main Edit page for your listing with the following text next to it: Yes, this cache is currently active (Reviewers will not see this listing in the review queue unless this box is checked.) 3. You can make a Log Entry, just like you would when logging a Find on a cache, except you would select "Enable Listing" from the pulldown menu. Some additional reading you may find helpful, can be found in the Knowledgebooks: Publication of Caches Good luck! Quote
+Printess Caroline Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Did you actually submit the cache for review? Make sure you checked the box that says it is active. Quote
+briansnat Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 There is no cache under your account awaiting review in Washington. As others mentioned, did you check the box that says it is active? Can you go to your account and see the cache page? Quote

Yes ther. was one issue, it had to bechanged from to a non handicap access. I assume when I changed it, that it notified the reviewer. Quote

Why is this website so unfriendly as far as the menu system. I am quite dissapointed in it really. Quote

I do find that is funny this web-site is more than what we deserve they do up grades on a weekly or montly base (Iam guessing) before that i ever place my first cache i did look and learn before 'I JUMPED RIGHT IN THERE" I also keep my words sweet never know when i have to eat them Quote

Dealing with websites is a huge part of my job, this site takes a little getting used to but isn't all that bad. You'll get the hang of it if you stick around. *This is meant to be encouraging. Quote

I am quite dissapointed in it really. the message from the reviewer requesting the change would have also told you to make sure you activate the cache once the issues have been resolved, but sounds like you did not read his message completely, not to mention the Guidelines for placing a cache while the website is not perfect, but what website is?....once you relax and take your time discovering all the features, or coming in the forums and asking nicely for clarification, like many do, instead of an attitude of "this is crap", you will discover that its quite an easy site to navigate Quote

Interestingly enough there was a post a few days ago from a novice who was marveling about what a well designed and easy to use site this was. Guess its a matter of what you are used to. Anyway, if you go to your profile there should be a link to the cache page under "your inactive caches". Go to that and get the GC number from the cache page and let me know what it is. +roziecakes Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Everything is crap when you don't try to understand how to use it. Just keep practicing with the site... you'll get used to it. Quote
+NatureGuy360 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I am not trying to rain on your parade, but you may want to find more than two geocaches before you rush out, and place your own. Go out, have fun, and find a few dozen geocaches before you toss your own out there. Plus, you can use this time to learn about how this website works, and how each function of this website can work for you. Quote
