+netfan
Help... Just orded a nuvi 500 for use on my motorcycle and wondered if anyone had mounted one to theirs and if so, any advice on which mount to use? Plan to do some riding and geocaching in the UP of Michigan in August and want to get this ordered. Thanks! Netfan Quote Link to comment
+goosehunter12
I used the suction cup mount on my windshield right above my speedometer and tach. If you are going to buy one spacifically for your motorcycle I would check out RAM mounts at amazon. They seem to be well built. Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment
+btl-a4
If you are using it on a motorcycle a ram mount is a must. I usually buy mine from either ram-mounts.com or gpscity.com depending on who is having sales/shipping deals at the time. Quote Link to comment
wasicun
I installed my Nuvi 510 on Yamaha FJR1300 with RAM mount; it works perfectly. Go ahead with RAM, they have plenty of hardware and attachments to find out the best solution for your bike. Pierluigi Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
Another vote for RAM. I use it on my mountain bike and there is none better. Quote Link to comment
+Bundyrumandcoke
Another vote for the RAM mounts. Both these are mounted using them. Both are on handlebar mounts. The beauty of them is I just swap the GPS, cradles, and arms to the windscreen mounts in my 4wd, when I change vehicles. Edited July 8, 2010 by Bundyrumandcoke Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
Yes, never take an electronic device on your bike without a RAM mount. I have them for everything! Quote Link to comment
+netfan
ALL - Thanks for the advice... got the RAM mount and it is everything you said and more. VERY solid and works like a charm! Quote Link to comment
+Bundyrumandcoke
The only thing to remember with a 500, and a RAM mount- assuming of course you are setting up a cigarette lighter on the bike to power the 500 externally and your using the standard power cable- is to ALWAYS remove the power cable from the back of the Nuvi BEFORE attempting to remove the Nuvi from the cradle. The tolerance is tight, and I have bent the plug on my cable more than once when in a hurry to remove it from the cradle, and I wasnt thinking. Quote Link to comment
