Oregon 450

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to manage an Oregon 450.

There are a couple of things I was unable to do cq see when it comes to uploading GPX files.

- Some cache descriptions contain plain HTML code, is there a way to strip these tags from the cache description?

- The GPX file contains the logs as well, can they be stripped as well?

- Is it possible to show the hint (if present) as well and if yes, how?

- How can I change the coordinates of a cache?

I did a search in the forum but was not able to find any answers yet.

Googling was not successful either.

I am not the best searcher I guess.

Looking forward for your creative ideas.

Thanks

John

Btw. I am a Mac user so any PC software will not be of much use.

the oregon strips HTML code itself, or rather tries to do so. its HTML handling is pretty poor, so many times you'll see some leftover bits of HTML. you could use an app like GSAK to process the HTML some more before transferring the files to the oregon.

you'll only see the logs in the first overview pages of the cache description, not later on when you use "view description". there's a seperate menu point for viewing the logs then. if you still want to strip the logs out of the GPX files, again you'd have to use an app like GSAK.

"view hint" in the geocache menu. only works for the currently active geocache.

you can't. you can only create a regular waypoint from the cache waypoint and change that. but this waypoint will only be a regular waypoint and won't give you any cache details.

afaik there's some mac software similar to GSAK, but don't quote me on that.
