+beejay&esskay
A nearby benchmark (JZ1199) has a location description of: 1,500 FEET WEST OF THE EAST LINE OF SECTION 21, T 16 N, R 14 E, I see (I think) where section 21 is on the topozone map, but what is the meaning of "T 16 N, R 14 E"? survey tech
Thats an excellent example. In most of the midwest, its very easy to mavigate using the rectangular system, since nearly all county roads and local arterial roads run along section lines and nearly all major intersections, outside cities, are at section corners. +GEO*Trailblazer 1
In The Louisiana Purchase States.Township 1, Sectin 1, Range 1, Began at the Louisiana Purcase Stone,See: http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/default.asp?park=Louisiana+Purchase http://www.naturalheritage.org/system/detail.asp?map_num=45 click on County Locator pdf, and 'The Stone' Event GCD28A 3/22/2003 which goes with The Lewis and Clark Expadition See: http://www.lewisandclark.org Which all begins with the 'Gathering Event cache GCC633 3/1/2003.The bugs will be released from Geocaching 101 Event 4/5/2003 GCC984. The Townships were 6 miles square as could be due to the convergence of the meridians at the poles, this created the First range East and West and the Range Lines were then consecutively numbered. This can be better explained in what is called the BLM Blue Book or Manual,1973.There are numerous caches in the areas here that coorealate with just what you are talking about and you have to be aware when you are at the caches, not all,but most, to the mathmatical significance and the distance measurements and and and.... We went to see The National Geographic Movie of the Lewis and Clark Expadition at the IMAX at Branson last night you gotta see it!!!!!!!! +Agent Okie
I was so excited when I read this one. This is the first question that I knew an answer to since I started on this forum a couple of weeks ago. Real Estate professionals have to be knowledgeable about Sections, Township and Ranges! I will be adding a signature soon! Quote Link to comment
+jeff35080
Every police report that we take requires a sector number. Guess what? The sector number our department uses is T-S-R The numbers are easily found in the map books and now via our computers. These numbers are used for statistical reporting. I find it interesting how many of us in different occupations use surveying information in a variety of different manners.
