boodrow7773
I find this sport/hobby fascinating but I'm limited on funds and have a 3 yr old, so I'm limited on time, but I'd like to start including him in this activity. We have a Garmin Street Pilot c550 that I don't know much about. Can I use it to find coordinates or should I invest in something else ( suggestions are welcome!) Thanks! boodrow Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Automotive units are poor choices for geocaching. I could be wrong but I don't think you can even enter coordinates in a Streetpilot. At least you couldn't in the model my Dad once had. You can find a basic unit like the Garmin eTrex H for under $100 and if you check out Ebay and the GPS Garage Sale forum here, you might be able to get a good deal on a used unit. Good used units can be found for under $50. Before buying used you might want to check back here to make sure you are getting a good deal. The people here can tell you what units are good and which ones to avoid and how much you should pay Edited July 1, 2010 by briansnat Quote Link to comment
+poblob14
I had hoped to do this when I got a 330C a couple of years ago, but it really doesn't work. I've just started using my iPhone now. (Not much help if you're on a budget, I know.) Quote Link to comment
+JohnE5
Do you have a smartphone? Droid, iphone? There are apps you can download. Quote Link to comment
+CathyGo
Check craigslist. I'm picking up a Magellan Meridian Gold tomorrow for $75 and it has everything that it came with new. Original box, all the cables, manual, etc. Quote Link to comment
