Need San Diego Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I will be in the San Diego area in mid-July to take my kid to the Comic Convention. We will be staying near the intersection of 805 and 163. I've previously covered Balboa Park pretty well and a lot of downtown. Does anyone have any recommendations for an area where I might want to go caching. I will probably be bringing bicycles, so I'd really like somewhere where we can ride and cache. I'd like to grab a bunch of good caches, but am not in it just "for the numbers."

Thanks

I would recommend checking out Mission Trails Park if you have the time. You will need to get a ride from your hotel to the park (located near the 52 and 125 freeways).

I have yet to go Geocaching at Mission Trails; however, I have gone hiking/biking there a number of times and would recommend it on that alone. The park is big with a range of terrain. If I had my guess I would say it is one of the better spots within San Diego County to geocache.

Corondao and the Silver Strand are great for biking...and around Mission Bay there are great bike trails and lots of caches...no traffic and easy flat trails. MTBing in MTRP or anywhere else is great but not that great if you have kids.
