ArtMan
A recent thread dealt with technical details of annotating photos for submission to NGS. I'm wondering how many of us actually submit pictures to the agency. Quote Link to comment
+Kordite
I have only made a few reports to NGS but was specifically asked to include photos if I had them. For example, there were five benchmarks that were mounted on the deck of the Point Bridge across the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh. The bridge was demolished in 1970 and I included a photograph of the single remaining bridge pier and a 1997 aerial photograph clearly showing the bridge NOT being there. NGS wants to make sure their data is correct and a photograph serves as proof that the mark is as you say it is. Quote Link to comment
boundsgoer
I recently filed Mark Recovery's for a Control Point and a Bench Mark. I then e-mailed photos of them to Deb Brown at NGS. This is her response: "Dear Mr. Johannes, At present we are working on having an option added to the recovery form to allow folks to submit photos of their recovered stations. Until then I'm filing such photos for later loading. Please hold on to these and the others you sent me and keep an eye out on our form for this option. Hopefully we'll be able to get this going soon. Thank you, Deb Brown" Quote Link to comment
