+fendermb4
I've been searching the web a lot, and still can't get this to work the way it seems like it should. I create a GPX file via the website, and download it. Then, I copy that to my SDCard on my PN-40. From the waypoint menu, I open the GPX file. It opens, but it loads all the caches as waypoints, not as geocaches, so I can only view them via the waypoint page, not the geocache page. This works, but its annoying because I can't see the comments, hints, etc. Is there any way to stick a GPS file on the SD card and then have it open them as geocaches? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
hoyshnin
I don't know because I'm not a pn-40 owner YET (hopefully will be soon), but I do know that many find this webpage helpful - http://delormepn40.wikispaces.com/ Quote Link to comment
+user13371
DeLorme's GPX processor in the PN-series can't (currently) digest a GC.com GPX file correctly. A few options: 1) Use DeLorme's Cache Register tool to download it. This will re-format/correct the GPX file to let it show waypoints properly. 2) Use GSAK - it has a macro to do the same required fix-ups. 3) Run the downloaded GPX file through DeLormer's Topo 8 program first. 4) Wait (a few days, maybe a little longer) until DeLorme releases firmware 2.8. This is supposed to fix the problem you're having also. See also: http://forum.delorme.com/viewtopic.php?f=131&t=24930 Quote Link to comment

When I open a gpx file, they all come in as waypoints with the red pin symbol. Does anyone have it working so that their gpx files get sorted into the geocaching screen? Do you have to manipulate the gpx files you download from here somehow? Quote Link to comment

+fendermb4
I found the answer, and figured I would post it for posterity. Apparently, version 2.7 of the firmware that introduced the file management stuff doesn't quite agree with the formatting of the gpx files downloaded from geocaching.com. You have to run the gpx file through topo 8 to reformat it. After doing that, the waypoints get sorted into the geocaching screen properly. Here is the forum post that describes how: http://forum.delorme.com/viewtopic.php?f=1...tart=30#p137995 I tested this and it works perfectly. Its really nice to have a bunch of gpx files to switch back and forth between. I now have about 2500 caches on my PN-40. I'm not too swift with GSAK yet, but I bet there would be a way to do the same thing with that tool. Quote Link to comment
