Is this the beginning of the the end for Geocaching? Quote Link to comment
BCProspectors
Ni!... almost. A topic similar to this was posted about a month ago. Quote Link to comment
+Pork King
I was hoping this thread was calling an end to placing McDonald's toys in caches. Oh, well. You dashed my hopes quite expertly, sir. Quote Link to comment
+roziecakes
Yep, this was recently discussed; and even if it does happen, I don't believe that it in anyway would mean the beginning of the end for geocaching. Quote Link to comment
+needaxeo
Is this the beginning of the the end for Geocaching? No because taking the toy out of a geocache and then eating the container tastes better and is more nutritious. Edited June 23, 2010 by needaxeo Quote Link to comment
+TheAlabamaRambler
While widely discussed I can't remember the last time I actually saw a McDonald's Happy Meal Toy in a cache. I'm sure that I have never seen a broken one. Odd how something that rarely happens in real life can be blown up in the hype to become an 'issue'. +Fjordi
Is this the beginning of the the end for Geocaching? Sorry if I am being stupid - but where is the connection between McDonald's toys and the end of Geocaching...? I don't get it Quote Link to comment
GOF's Sock Puppet
I'd be surprised if it was even the end of toys in happy meals. Quote Link to comment
+Zork V
Is this the beginning of the the end for Geocaching? Sorry if I am being stupid - but where is the connection between McDonald's toys and the end of Geocaching...? I don't get it In the beginning there was caches, but they were emtpy but for a Logbook and pencil. and Jeremy saw this and was sad. So it came to pass that adding a few Mc Donalds toys made it all the more enjoyable for the finders, like the kids. Here endith the lesson. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
If the toys are stopped, those toys in caches will be worth more! Quote Link to comment
+Fjordi
Thanks I think I have never seen a McDonald's toy in one of the caches I have found so far (only one little package of ketchup...). So I suppose, there is still hope? Quote Link to comment
hoosier guy
I think I am going to institute a lawsuit to prevent activist groups from bogging down the legal system with silly lawsuits. Quote Link to comment

I wonder if McDonald's is shaking with fear over this? You know, I don't think I would know a happy meal toy if I saw one. I've never bought a happy meal. Do they really make you happy, or is this just an evil ploy to lure helpless children into McDonald's clutches? Quote Link to comment

knowschad
If the toys are stopped, those toys in caches will be worth more! Exactly. Instead of the end of geocaching, it may bring an onslaught of McToys collectors trading their old Beanie Babys for McToys. Quote Link to comment
Fledermaus
Oh No, How tragic! Now my kid won't have anything to cut his teeth on. Even worst, the dog won't have new to chew-toy either. I quess, both of them will just have to fight over the doggie biscuits as usual. I'm going to miss that occasional crunching noise in the wee hours of the next morning, when I'm going down the stair to breakfast. I can't image having to find a cache without my favorite rotting and grungy McD and BK toys? I wonder if all of the McD and BK toys will become collector's items and be sold on eBay? Maybe I should immediately run out to all my caches and quickly gather them up before somebody else snags them. Edited June 23, 2010 by Fledermaus Quote Link to comment

Fledermaus
sorry, this is only targeting McD toys. BK toys are safe. Targeting only McD toys and not BK toys could be construed as discrimination. I smell another lawsuit, but mine is still at the cleaners. And, please send those middle-aged ladies my way, but not their hubbies, for I'm single and in need of the personal attention, i.e. cooking, cleaning and the occasional snuggling. +42at42
I'd be surprised if it was even the end of toys in happy meals. They will take the toy out of the box and charge the same amount for a Happy Meal They will then sell the toy separate and the kids will whine, the parents will fold. It is a win-win for McD's I think I am going to institute a lawsuit to prevent activist groups from bogging down the legal system with silly lawsuits. The lawyers would take your case and make sure it lasts long enough to buy a couple of BMW's. Quote Link to comment
+Scuba4jews
Since I keep kosher, I have not been able to get McSwag. So I will keep my current practice of putting in better quality SWAG. Quote Link to comment
+Castle Mischief
Relax folks, there's still crap at the Dollar Store for you to stock your ammo cans. I, for one, don't really mind finding a still-wrapped McToy in a cache. Sometimes they make good Travel Bugs. I also don't feel bad about leaving a still-wrapped one either. Quote Link to comment
