Relocating cache to an other province

Hi,

I have a cache in Gauteng that I want to relocate to the Western Cape. Will I be able to do so and keep the original cache code?

Interesting one - my take - you can only adjust the coordinates within a narrow margin yourself, so you would have to contact the moderator. Fish Eagle seems active again , but ROTSIP should also be able t help you.

My gut feel is that you should not do this and that you probably will not be allowed to do this. With that great a difference in locations I can't see how it could reasonably be the same cache.

Why not leave that cache where it is and place one her in the Western Cape thats similar to it. Win - WIn and the net gain of one cache!

Before you move the cache please let me know, so I can find it up here in Gauteng. Then when you move it I will have my first WC cache found. Then have finds in all 9 provinces.

(Doubt for this reason you will be able to move it).

However if the cache was on the border, and incorrectly created then it would be moved to the correct province. This happened in Parys on two caches

As Trevor mentioned you can request a reviewer to update the listing.

Adding my voice to Trevor's sentiments. It is such a fundamental shift in the cache listing that it should just be listed as a new cache. Perhaps you can explain your reasoning for not wanting to do this?

Hi TrevorH/GlobalRat

The cache I want to move is TG Treasure Chest (GCT9QQ). Look at this photo on the cache and you would understand why I would like to keep the cache code: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...72-b3a26c531bc6 ;)

The cache code in unique to the cache container.

Any material change in the nature of a cache which creates a different experience should be a new listing, so the right thing to do is to archive the old cache, and create a new listing for the new cache. The new cache can refer to (and link to) the old listing to preserve the rich history which your Treasure Chest cache has got.

BTW - I'm only temporarily in the reviewer's seat again while ROTSIP's away on holiday.
