Trade & Travel Mission June 2010

Recommended Posts

Just saw a Mission like this pop up from a few years ago. I even remember taking part in one of these, unfortunately mine never made it here...

Here's the idea of the mission:

Every person that partipates should be prepared to release a coin in a nearby cache, after having it adopted by the person that has been assigned to them.

Here's how it works:

- Before July 1st, send a mail to me (tschakko@googlemail.com) indicating that you want to participate, indicating also what cache in your area should be the destination for the coin you'll be surprised with.

- On July 1st you will receive the nick of the person assigned to you and the destination of the coin you're going to surprise them with.

- Rename the coin to XXX's Coin or sth that u think is apropriate and set up a mission for the coin to reach it's destination. Design the coins page in a nicely way.

- Send out an adoption request for the coin to the person assigned to you.

- Drop the coin in a nearby cache (and put it on your watchlist if you like!)

If people want to participate after July 1st, they can go ahead and let me know. I'll just set up another batch.

Track your progress here, e.g following this scheme:

1. Participating

2. Nick/destination received

3. Outgoing coin released

4. Incoming coin picked up.

I know it's a risky venture and I guess in the end not everyone will even get to see their coin, but if you want to risk it, go ahead and sign up for it. Let's try and make coins travel every now and then.

If you want you can enter with more than one coin.

P.S. Thx to kdv, as I copied quite a bit from her decription :D

Excellent! Another way to get geocoins in caches and moving through the world!

Outgoing coin released:

Incoming coin picked up:

Mission 2: (Egyptian Narmer)

While it's very true I may never see the coin(s) sent to me, I will enjoy the journey as long as it lasts. Thanks for organizing, and I hope we get others interested in travelling coins!

Mission 1: (should I list the coin here?)

Thank u for participating. I got u in for 3 missions :D I do think that this is a good way to get coins traveling, too... It´s hard to set them free urself, but if it´s the only way to get a chance to ever see them, it´s more easy. And to be honest isn´t it great to follow the travels, especially if there come stories and pictures with it... ;)

To answer ur question: If u like u may post the name of the coin, this way people will get a picture of what they might receive in the near or far future ;)

OK sign me up!

I was one of the lucky ones...my outgoing coin made it from Detroit Michigan to the UK in only 3 steps and was the first to be picked up by the receiving team. :D

Not so lucky with my incoming coin, bounced around England for a while then went missing.

Excellent! Turlutortue, as you can see I have your name. I have picked out the coin that I will be sending to you, it is on order

This is a slow mission anyway, so its not that bad to wait a few days to see what you are going to get ;)

Just heading out the door on our way to GW8

Will take care of the details when we return.

We will most likely drop our outgoing coin at Midwest GeoBash as that worked very well last time.

I need a little time to do a research what my recipient like, and if i have one in my treasure chest :P But I'll make a decision tomorrow ... then I'll send the adoption request.

Edit: This was a short research, I found a Four Element in my garden album. I edit the Coinpage and then we'll send the adoption request

Thanks for the Mission ;)

Whew... what a long drive that was, but then again, probably shorter than most - I gave away ALOT of coins at GW8, and that was pretty fun.. seeing expressions on peoples faces! Anyway, after coming home and logging 37 coins that I retrieved - I had some emails awaiting me, including an adoption request which prompted me to get on this mission thread... so... ;)
