2nd 1871 benchmark found-Yah-Hoo!

We just found another 1871 monumented rock cairn. But, this cairn is not as impressive in size..only about 4 ft. tall now instead of the posted 5 ft. It is cool though because it has it's own 2 RM disks, plus there is another triangulation station about 50 ft. away! All this just outside the small town of Fredonia located in northern AZ. It was not a bad drive most of the way--gravel. But then there was a sign--NO CARS BEYOND THIS POINT--ONLY TRUCKS OR JEEPS..it was serious! It took 1/2 hour to go a little over "2" miles Then we had to climb up to this one...fantastic views, just like the last one. This one is the Shinarump Cairn PID GQ0288. It was really thrilling to find another piece of history!

Here is the first 1871 cairn we found on the other side of the town of Fredonia...an 8 ft. tall cairn, Kanab South Cairn PID GQO323.
