Washington Monument and other famous benchmarks

Please visit the page for HV4442 - Washington Monument 1913. I'll admit, it didn't take much work to find, so I'm not proud of an exotic catch. No, I'm inviting you to check a couple of links in my log entry. They will lead you to the National Geodetic Survey's web page on how they did measurements on the top of the monument in 1999, while it was covered with scaffolding. Pictures, too.

By the way, have you logged any marks in famous places? This might be a good place to chime in.

Artman: I checked out some of those Washington Monument pictures - very interesting and well done. I would have loved to be on top by the point when they tok the measurements. I'll be in DC next week for a couple of days. Should I check out their accuracy?? icon_wink.gif
