+Og's outfit
Hello everybody! It's been awhile since I posted here. How have you been? I was thinking about maybe, possibly hiking up to Aix and Pains this Saturday to check on my cache. I just did a quick check to find any recent trail reports but found none. I'm pretty sure the snow leaves the area pretty early in the spring, but this year may be different. Anyone care to make this trek with me, or have a better idea? Quote Link to comment
+GrnXnham
We plan to do Mt. Aix sometime this summer. But just to play it safe, we will probably give it another month to make sure we aren't slogging through the slick snow on that steep hillside. Quote Link to comment

Alright, well when you decide to go GrnXnham, let me know if you don't mind. I'd really like to head up there with another person or persons. If your ever wondering if anybody else would be interested...this guy always is. Just FYI. Take care Quote Link to comment

+ZeroHecksGiven
Wouldn't mind doing this at some point as well. I'll be busy this Saturday, so I'll have to pass for now as well, but would be down to join some graham locals if they're up for it Quote Link to comment
+hydnsek
I would also like to do this one later this summer (after GeoWoodstock!) and would love to go with all of you. (Hi Glynnis!) Quote Link to comment
+Og's outfit
Yeah it's probably too early anyway. I think I'm getting too antsy. Maybe I should look to the Olympics for a Saturday hike. Quote Link to comment
TeamKayAsh
I would love to do this one later in the summer. I need to spend some time getting into shape first! Haha! Our area has amazing hills and mtns with some great caches so I'm working on building up my strength and endurance! I'll keep a watch out on here for an upcoming hike! Quote Link to comment
+GrnXnham
The snow level in the Cascades yesterday and today is around 6000' and this cache is at 7600' So there still might be some snow up there this weekend. Quote Link to comment

(Hi Glynnis!) hydnsek Do you want to make this a July AHOTM? We could go ahead and set a date--maybe something like Saturday July 17th? Maybe the snow will be gone by then? If we plan this out a month, maybe more people won't have the day already booked. Edited June 10, 2010 by GrnXnham Quote Link to comment
+Og's outfit
Making this an AHOTM sounds good to me. This still leaves my Saturday open. hmmm... maybe I'll go get those Sugarloaf caches. I haven't cached is awhile, I wonder if I still know how to load co-ords in my GPS. Quote Link to comment

Washington (GCMYA0) on Sunday if you are able to hike on that day and want to join us. Edited June 10, 2010 by GrnXnham Quote Link to comment

But sure, let's run it up the flagpole and see who salutes. AHOTM - Saturday, July 17. Challenging 12-mile hike in vertical terrain to Aix & Pains. Be prepared, this will be the hardest AHOTM yet and not for the timid. Who's interested? Quote Link to comment

Any suggestions on wether to get there the night before and if so any good suggestions on where to "camp" it at? You could camp at the trailhead. If you'd like more "civilized" camping, you could stay at the Bumping Lake campground. Either way, camping the night before isn't a bad idea. Quote Link to comment

A recent driving trip to California left me with chest pain on elevations above 4,000. A couple of passes were at 5,000. I am really bummed this summer. I may try a small hike tomorrow below 600' ele. Quote Link to comment

Well Love mentioned that she is only staying for Friday night, so maybe you can talk her out of her Saturday night pass. Being it is a weekend, you pay for both nights even if only staying for one night. Just a thought... Either way it will be a great time. So what do people who are doing these kind of hikes, "party" with the night before a hike like this? Inquiring minds want to know.... Quote Link to comment
+ZeroHecksGiven
I'm asking family and friends if they want to join me at a spot and hydnsek has also offered to split her spot. Gotta act quick if I do end up at a spot... Quote Link to comment
+GrnXnham
Since everyone else seems to be camping, we've now grabbed spot #48 for both Friday and Saturday night. We'll be bringing our camper. Looks like fun! The TH is 2.5 hours from our house, so camping just makes more sense. Quote Link to comment

Inquiring minds want to know.... I don't know what most people are planing, but we'll probably lay low Friday night (maybe a couple of beers and visiting) My husband will be fishing all day while hikers hike and he claims that he'll grill for us Saturday. (we'll have to work out a menu as the date draws near) I think there will be a few tasty brews consumed by me on Saturday evening. Quote Link to comment

+B+L
If anyone has a spot to split, I'll pay for half. We're presently negotiating with NWCREW to rent him the basement of site 63. You shouldn't have any problem finding a spot because the sites can allegedly accommodate up to six people. There is a $10 fee per extra vehicle, so to get the best deal, you'll want to find some socialists to go halfsies with Quote Link to comment
+LandRover
If anyone has a spot to split, I'll pay for half. There's still room over in site 46, when I reserved the site I reserved for 6 people just in case. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I want to bring the tent trailer. Quote Link to comment
