+LeGrand
I recently bought an "EarthCache" Geo-Coin from the Groundspeak shop (http://shop.Groundspeak.com/productDetail.cfm?CategoryID=23&ProductID=181) with the intention of "Dipping" it in all the EarthCaches that I visit and keeping a centralized log of my earthcache finds/photos. I really like the concept of earthcaches, and they are becoming my favorite type to find; however currently I have found that I can't "Dip" or log my trackable EarthCache Geo-Coin in any of these that I find because the option is not there to deposit a trackable at an earthcache. I think this would be a great feature, and allow for EarthCache themed goals for trackables, and allow earthcache geocoins to have a log of all the earthcaches that their owner (or just the coin itself as it travels) visits. I understand that the reason for this is probably that earthcaches are not supposed to have physical containers associated with them; but just making the coins "dippable" wouldn't require a container to be there... Anyway, this is my suggestion/desire. Please let me know what you think and if this could be a feature that could be added to geocaching.com. Thanks! -W. LeGrand Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
By satisfying your desire to make it "dip-able" without a physical cache, opens the door for a lot of abuse. IMO, it is the way it should be. Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
I don't have a problem with allowing people to log a bug through an Earthcache just as we can now through a virtual. Link to comment

+tozainamboku
This topic was discussed recently. OpinioNate indicated that there were no plans to allow dipping of trackables in Earthcaches. However TPTB were looking at a new type of trackable log - perhaps called "pitstop" - to allow coins and trackables to get mileage for visiting any location - not only Earthcaches or Waymarks. Aye, Exactly like the virtual caches, I neglected to mention that. Thank you for bringing that up. -LeGrand Link to comment

+tzipora
I asked about this a couple weeks ago. The more I thought about it, the more ridiculous it became that we can't have a personal TB visit an EarthCache. I mean, I can dip a TB through a cache I haven't even found, but I can't put a log on my dog's TB page showing our stop at an EarthCache. Link to comment

That would have been nice to know before you bought the coin, eh? A simple text search on the following pages makes no mention of any logging limitations for travel bugs or geocoins. http://shop.Groundspeak.com/productDetail....p;ProductID=181 http://www.geocaching.com/track/ http://www.geocaching.com/track/howto.aspx http://www.geocaching.com/track/travelbugs.aspx http://www.geocaching.com/track/travelbugfaq.aspx http://www.geocaching.com/track/howtogeocoin.aspx http://www.geocaching.com/track/geocoin.aspx http://www.geocaching.com/track/geocoinfaq.aspx Link to comment
