Thank Gatoulis for all your help in keeping up with the picks. Sorry to Odyssey Voyager or any others if there was any confusion. This cointest was not limited to people outside the US, wanted to get some cointestants from other countries. Will pick the teams tonight or tomorrow.

Switzerland?? Oh boy!!! At least I hope they will pass the group but... Chile is Quite strong!

 

Now just for the fun.... the team I believe they will pass from the groups and go to the next round are:

 

Group A: Mexico , France (Uruguay still has chances... France is not in the best condition)

 

Group B: Argentina, Nigeria (Korea is very strong and may take Nigeria's place, but I will go with Nigeria)

 

Group C: England, USA (Slovenia is good and Algerians are fighters but USA is quite good!)

 

Group D: Germany, Ghana (even if I believe that Serbia has lots of chances to pass, the players have nerves, and if the game will not go as they want... you will see red cards! Australia is good but...)

 

Group E: Netherlands, Cameroun! (Denmark is good but I like Cameroun! :D)

 

Group F: Italy, Paraguay

 

Group G: Brazil, Portugal (Ivory coast will play good football but...)

 

Group H: Spain, Chile (I hope Switzerland will pass but I do not know... I haven't seen Chile yet but.. Latin American football is..)

 

And I believe the winner will be from Latin America! Maybe Brazil!

 

Argentina is good but not the team it used to be! Maradonna was a great player but I am not so sure if he is a very good coach too! If he will put Mesi in his right possision.... we may see good football... Unfortunatelly.. In cases like that... all the balls will have to pass from Mesi and end in Aguero... so if you block them.... bye bye...

 

**In Portugal (I can't wait to see Brazil against Portugal in the group!! WOW!!), Christiano Ronaldo will want the ball all the time! this may not be so good.... ;)

 

And remember most of the times... if not all... when the mundial is in a European country, the Winner is European! When it is somewhere else.... the winner is from Latin America!

 

south Africa is a good team and I like it! I hope it will go well and people will continue to be in the stadiums! The host countries many times are passing from the group and go to the other stage.... so we may see SA there! :D

 

Some national teams will face a problem and will not play well or their players will be tired! Why? Because some stadiums are in places that are high! Teams that are used to play in conditions you will find in such places (not al ot of oxygen etc) will play better!

 

African teams will play better because this is Africa!! they will play in their homeland!

 

Many african teams will play the game of their lifes against France! :D

 

and finally... I really really hope that the fans of the teams will not use the strange and noisy thing.... (vuvuzela) that is like you fell and beeing attacted by a huge group of bees!!! after a while you will have a headacke!!! So... can you imagine the football players??? Oh!!!

gelugon my friend, I hope you will forgive my national team! We have as a dream to pass from the groups, but if we win a game it will be great too! Actually if we score, we will be happy!!!

It is our second time in a mundial and the first in 1994 was not so good!

Loss from Argentina (with Maradona) 4-0, loss from Nigeria 2-0, loss from Bulgaria (with many great players.. probably the greatest playersof Bulgaria!) 4-0. there were many stories that Greece went to USa only for vacations.... This time is not like that, but we do not have the great team of 2004 anymore... when we won the Euro 2004 in Portugal... and ok... mirracles happen only once, and greece had it in 2004! :angry:

 

hmmm..... this is strange!!! in 1994, we had in our group, Argentina and Nigeria again!!! in 1994, Maradona was against us as a player, and now he is agaist us as a coach! wow!

 

But as I said... do not give up!!! mirracles happen! that is the great thing with football.... you never know what will happen!!! :D

In euro 2004 greece was probably the weakest team... none actually believed that we can even win a game! but... we only lost once from Russia, a game that was not so importand! when we passed from the group.... we only had wins and none scored against us! (ok, ok, we were too defensive but.. we were not a big team!!!) So.... let's see which team is picked now to be the cinderella of the tournament! :D

Here we go. Looking at the hype in SA - it seems really amazing. I am fortunate that I'll be in SA in week's time - so will be there for the end opf the group games and up to the 1/4 finals - I can be our roving reporter :blink:

Yahoo for Uruguay..someone needs to let the French team know they don't belong in the world cup! Sorry Vegas Gamblers, nothing personal but I will cheer for any team except for FRANCE and I am of french Canadian descent...

read first post again, you only got to pick a number from 1 to 32, the countries were assigned randomly, the only way to make it fair

 

do you really think anyone would willingly pick Honduras, NZ, North Korea or any of the teams that have a very long shot? :blink:

 

 

Pick 1 number from 1-32, 1 pick per cointestant.

 

The teams will be randomly picked once all 32 numbers are chosen.

 

Winner of a random coin will have the winning world cup team.

Thanks t4e for the explanation. Random picks for everyone. We asked for people from multiple countries as the world cup is an international competition but the team assingments were completely random. We placed a card with each team name in a hat and the kids picked the cards out 1 at a time.
