+ariffraff
I am looking into purchasing 2 gps devices. I need one that can handle almost anything since it will be in my husbands hands and he is active duty army, no telling where it will land on the globe. The second is for me, I need accuracy and reliability and of course global gps ability as well. I am looking at spending about $800 total for both systems. I am thinking Garmin, but am totally open to suggestions so lets have them. Paperless is preferred. Edited June 3, 2010 by ariffraff Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
My vote is either for upper-end Garmin or Delorme. Cannot see a serious drawback to either brand. Quote Link to comment
+RonFisk
My vote would be for the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx if you don't need paperless. If you want paperless caching go for one of the Oregon units. I have both a GPSMAP 60CSx and an Oregon 550t. They both have their place and are both relatively reliable units... Quote Link to comment
+CortandTrent
If you need paperless go with one of the Garmin 62 series that are about come out. If you don't need it I would go with the 60csx. I love more Oregon but the 60/62 are much tougher devices. Quote Link to comment

+CortandTrent
If you can wait a little bit I would go with the new 62 series. If not I love my Oregon 450, great unit. Quote Link to comment
+Redwoods Mtn Biker
I think you'll find a wide range of international maps (both free and paid) if you go with Garmin. I'd suggest the Oregon 450 or wait for the just announced 62s. Quote Link to comment

I second that, the Oregon 450 is a superb device very rugged, waterproof and easy to use, in the UK we get a version with 1:50,000 maps for the country and it makes paperless caching a snap Quote Link to comment
