Screen scratches

Recommended Posts

I scratched the screen on my old Garmin 60Cx unit this weekend whild geocaching. The scratches are slight, but there is also a nick on the screen. What is the best way to remove scratches. Or should I call Garmin about a replacement screen and cost of the screen?

I used car wax (turtle wax) on my etrex legend and it worked great. Wax though, not polish...

toothpaste works too, specifically the soda based ones, but NOT ON A TOUCHSCREEN DEVICE, and for those who can get hold of it, the very best is jewellers rouge, both are incredibly mild abrasives and will restore watch glasses and cellphone screens, but remember, not on a touchscreen device.

PS dont even think about using it on a touchscreen at all

A good screen protector like Invisible Shield will hide scratches pretty well (and keep you from getting more!).

Yeah - What he said -

ALSO however, there is a product called Novus. It's a plastic polish and comes in three different formulas. Novus 3 is a heavy scratch remover. Novus 2 is a fine scratch remover and Novus 1 is a 'clean and shine' product designed to be used as the final step.

I use it all the time on my pinball machine plastics and those tough stains that sometimes require a little more than just a little soft cloth.

I would recommend Novus 2 followed by 1 for most light scratches. If it's really bad you'll need to start at Novus 3, then 2, then 1. Product info here: www.novuspolish.com

Good luck.
