3. For folks in my area, if you have a suspicion that there might be a Stage/Final too close to your proposed placement, email me the coordinates before wasting your valuable time in making your one of a kind creation so that I can let you know of any nearby caches that might interfere.

 

4. Don't submit Listings with business or product names in the Title. In general, avoid promoting nearby businesses in your Description.

Don't tell other folks how to enjoy geocaching. If you think FTF's are important, super go get them. If you think FTF's are silly, fine let someone else break their neck attempting to be FTF. If you think a difficult hike with breathtaking vistas are the only caches you want to persue, do so. Some others like quickie urban ones. If you dont think newbies should attempt a hide, note how many caches the CO has found and dont go after his or her hide. If you hate micros (that would be me, lol) don't look for them, others love a good micro. I could go on, but you get the idea.

I live in a beautiful rural area. We have many forests, lakes, mountains and rivers. We have many historical features including railways, gold diggings, hotels, monuments, and public buildings.

 

Please don't waste your time with a micro in a lakeside botanic garden, with no info on your page about the gardens.

 

Pointless caches are easily forgettable.

 

Please, take me on an adventure.

Please, please, please make sure that what you found **is actually a geocache** and NOT a letterbox.

 

If it has a stamp in it, especially a hand-carved one that took hours to make, it's almost for sure a letterbox not a 'cache. DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP! Doing so completely ruins the letterbox and the game and is becoming increasingly (and frustratingly) common. There's no reason that the two hobbies/addictions can't co-exist by taking that extra moment to have a look at what you've really got.

Um... the OP asked: If I could ask my fellow cachers to do one thing, what would it be? I would ask them to provide more interesting caches. I don't see what is so wrong with that.

 

It's not an expectation, it's just an answer to the question. And someone else agreed with me, that the dream is worthy of mentioning.

 

If someone asked me what I'd do with a million dollars, and I said I'd buy a big house, would you feel smug because you know I'm not actually getting a million dollars? Well I know it too, so your smugness is unjustified.

Why my favorite geocache was hidden by someone with less then 50 hides. My favorite geocachER was hidden by soemone with less then 80... Funny though, the people who have over 100 finds have the worst geocaches. I disagree with that one.

please actually sign the log. don't say something like found it but couldn't reach it... that's kinda like lieing, not to mention cheating because you didn't really "find" it you found the approximate location yes but the actual cach? NO!!

Not always have I been able to sign the log. Sometimes it is in containers that I cannot get the lid off (many nanos are done so tight it cant be unscrewed) but I did physically hold the cache and attempt to sign the log. Also when they are dripping wet I don't even bother I just put the cache back go on to the next one.

that's been my experience mostly.... there's a few cachers with thousands of finds... and 200+ hides... those were wet logs in non-sense places....inside of plastic containers that never should have been set out....that never respond to maintenance notes (not mine).

That may be because they see hides/finds as "points". I personally see it as more of a percentage for my "points". If I have one hide that 97% of people who visit absolutely love, that beats 200 caches that about 10% of people like... That's why I don't have a cache hidden yet. I'm giving it careful planning, and looking for a GOOD place. Not just a place where it will be well hidden, but a place with a good view, or a nice hike.
