+JL_HSTRE
Most caches descriptions and usernames are written in normal upper/lower mixing of letters. I have seen a few cachers that have usernames in all caps, their logs are in all caps, names of all their caches are in all caps, and the entire description for each of their caches is in all caps. I know the internet is infamous FOR PEOPLE WHO FEEL THE NEED TO ALWAYS IM AND EMAIL IN ALL CAPS and I'm sure at least some of these cachers are those kind of people. But is there a good reason for doing everything in CAPSLOCK? Are some GPS units in the present or past much easier to read if everything is in caps? Just curious... Quote Link to comment
+dorqie
I THINK IT'S MOSTLY JUST PEOPLE WHO THINK ALL CAPS IS COOL. KINDA LIKE A TRADEMARK STYLE FOR THEM. AND TO MAKE EVERYONE THINK THAT THEY ARE CONSTANTLY SHOUTING. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Saves having to remember where the u/c letters go in names, and start of sentences etc.! I'd rather see it l/c than caps all the way through. Quote Link to comment

+secretagentbill
At least it's not that fad a few years ago where they capitalize every other letter. But, yeah, there are people at work that do everything in caps - email, documents, even file and folder names on the server. It drives me crazy - very hard to read. Quote Link to comment

+narcissa
Some people just aren't internet savvy and/or great at typing. I don't think it's something to nitpick - if someone places a cache, they're contributing to the game and they should be encouraged, not discouraged. Only once have I ever written to a cache owner about the content of a cache page, and it was because there was a very major flaw that made it nearly impossible to find the cache (it was a six-stage multi). I explained why we had trouble and suggested an alternate wording for the problematic sentence, and the owner fixed it right away. Quote Link to comment

I can't remember but the programming language that most of the early personal computers uses was basic and it used, by convention, all upper case. The first personal computer I used was a Commodore PET but I had used mainframe computers several years before that. The first computer that owned was actually a HP 1000 mini computer that I built from the scrap program at HP and used a Teletype ASR 33 for the terminal and it only used upper case. It was also I loaded the operating system (on paper tape). The first time I really noticed upper case messages was in the early days of Usenet. One of the early universities to gain access to usenet was Penn State University and the ALL CAPS postings from PSUVM were somewhat notorious. The next rash of all caps postings came primarily from WebTV users. Quote Link to comment

+Vater_Araignee
I had an early Apple II+ when they first came out. Wish I still had that thing; it was a ton of fun in those early days of personal computing. Here you go... http://computers.shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&...mp;_sacat=58058 You can use it to solve my next puzzle cache I think I used one just a little bit in college. But we used mostly Trash-80's (TRS-80's). I don't believe they had lower case capability either. Someone will verify, or prove me wrong though, I'm sure. Would that be the Tandy color basic? Plug it into your TV like a Commodore Vic 20? Ah the good old days of manually dialing and placing the hand set on the modem. And getting my but kicked over a massive instate long distance bill. ~~~ADD~~~ Oh yeah, some did and some didn't, I can't tell ya if it was a model thing or a release date.
