Is that gold embossing on top of alcohol inks? Trying to figure out what the base material is – shrink plastic?

 

Whatever it is, I like :laughing:

 

I thought it looked like alcohol inks too - very similar to some jewellery I did - mine was shrink plastic - but I have done some on dominoes too - then sealed with diamond glaze.

I have been using left over waterfowl bands from our Duck Unlimited Banquets as my signature items. The are pretty need they have the county, chapter number, and date of the banquets engraved in them. Here is a picture of them. I know its a bad picture, but I will try to update it when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the positive comments! It is indeed alcohol inks and embossing on Stampbord. Only drawback is the back is dark brown so need a White gel pen in my cache kit! Planning on some caching tomorrow in West Yorkshire so keep your eyes open for a few more!

I love stampbord, it's pricey stuff, though, I'm not convinced I could part with mine in any great quantities as cache swag :D

I have a huge pile of it and used one piece in 3 years - so it became swag and now I'm really enjoying using it - so it will continue to be used!

 

Fair enough – I have my fair share of piles of (as yet) unused crafting materials too :)

me too - the hubs despairs at the amount of crafting stuff I have. Flugella maybe I will make my way to your neck of the woods to see if I can bag myself one of your sig items - I just love them x

Its not much, but its our first attempt at a sig item. They were made by printing a reverse image with a laser jet printer (toner) then placing it on the nickel image side down, after a quick pass or two with a wood burning pen, the image is transfered to the nickel. This was my first attempt so its not great, but since then others have turned out better. On the back is your standard TFTC, FTF, and the like. Any suggestions to spruce them up a bit are welcomed. :)

I made a batch of these bottle cap signature items a while ago and I have had some good comments about them. The idea came from Renzotobias who has a blog with lots of ideas for cool swag. I printed the inserts and laminated them before adding "water-clear" resin. My cache name came from the Hobgoblin beer, so it was the obvious choice for me.

 

You may notice the brewery have changed the design, and now I am no longer the "the legendary" Hobgoblin. However the beer is still tastes good!

There are only a couple out in the wild at the moneny but but keep an eye on my logs to see where they are. Maybe we should organise a geocaching crafting meet, combine both!

woo hoo - I had a lovely email yesterday from a cacher saying that she had found a Bu Baby in a cache and that she treasures it and it's the best thing she has ever found in a cache. I was so excited and proud of my little Bu Babies.

This is horribly off topic, but do either of you guys get stupidly excited when you find craft materials / tools in caches? I found a really paper crimper in one, a little heart punch in another, and a really cool Disney Cars self-inking stamping wheel that makes tyre tracks on paper in a third (the last one I had to haggle with my son for :P)

Hi, in Czech/Slovak Repubic, we have personal sig item as little wood wheel (diameter is cca 30mm, thickness cca 6mm), where is on top side is laser-burn nick of geocacher and picture or anything was geocacher want and on second side is official geocaching logo approved from Groundspeak... It's very favorite's item, my collection's is on my profile... For example this is my and my gilrfriend cwg00394a.jpg

These are my little Bu babies - to be placed in caches we have visited. What do people think??

 

:laughing::P Oh I hope you don't mind if I use this idea!? The kids would LOVE it. I have been tryiing to think of something they could all do.. this is perfect. Thank you for sharing!! They are soo pretty. But I think I will use plastic beads for the kids. It will be more cost effective....

Here are the Handsome Boys' Sig Items...The coloured ones are made of Fimo clay and the wooden one is a slice of 1 1/4" dowel and about an hour with a Rotary tool. Both styles take about an hour to make each one, so they are a little slow for mass production but I have a good time doing it. I am hoping with winter coming, I might find more time to craft these while holed up inside for the long Canadian winter. What do you guys think? (ps...sorry about the blurry photos...best I could do with my P.O.C. camera)...T.

For polymer clay tokens, you might want to consider canework. It takes a while to build a cane with your design as the pattern of its cross section, but once you reduce the cane and slice it into individual tokens, you can end up with hundreds of finished tokens (depending on how much polymer clay you start with, of course).

We leave rubber duckies, I want to write on the bottom of a duck a group name, but we haven't come up with one yet.

WOW! You guys have some awesome Items!

Mine are pretty simple, and not nearly as fancy as you guys! Anyway, I leave Clothspins I painted in caches. They're nothing too special, but I do like to decorate them nicely, and normally I put a cute quote in the clothspins.

They're all different, but I like them a lot. These need to be sealed still, but they'll do!

They are trade items. Some of us collect them. Actually, sig items are the only thing I trade for now.

I would like to come up with a signature item for myself and was wondering what other people use. Can you show pictures of yours?

 

Wish I could help, but I don't make my own. All of my trade items are souveniers from the gift shop at the Battleship Texas, BB-35. Started doing that when we first started Geocaching, back when Geocaching first started. Have kept at it ever since. Whenever I run out, I just stop by the gift shop again and stock up.

I've not really seen any truly good sig items in my area. I cacher from New England was visiting a friend in my area and did a couple of my caches. She appreciated them so much that she left her signature pathtag with her friend to pass along to me. It's the first pathtag I've seen. It's got me thinking of signature items now and this stuff provides some great ideas for me.

My signature item is also a Good Luck charm! ;)

A Japanese 5-Yen coin. Have several rolls of them, and also get replenished through a 'close' route.

Since it has a very unique hole in the middle, I also attach it to any TB I come across as hitchhiking Good Luck charm. If a geocoin in a pouch, I just insert into the pouch.

 

If you come across one of these in a cache not attached or with anything, help yourself 'exchanging' with something you can leave inside.

 

For the 5-Yen coin, attach it to something you carry all the time to bring you some Good Luck.

Put it in your wallet or coin purse, and it should bring you Good Fortune.

 

Who doesn't want some extra luck while caching? :D

First off I got to say hello. This is my first post. I only have 11 finds under my belt but I am loving the sport.

 

I am a woodworker/cabinet maker by trade. I love to turn wood on my wood lathe. So I started making these coins last night.

 

From top LT walnut, topical olive mahogany, birds eye maple, cherry and leopard wood.
