abanazar
My 7yr old son is looking for help from a Colorado Cacher to rescue his TB; unfortunately, we're in England, far, far away! All we have to go on is the Note posted by the last person to handle it. You can see the log in full at TB2RZT3 but the relevant part says: "… Flew him Denver, CO, and on to Winter Park, CO for one last day of snow skiing. N 39º 52' 293" W 105º 45' 822" Ski season is over, so a clever hiker will be able to find him this summer, and send him on his way again. Look for the Ammo Can under the fallen log." I've tried to contact the cacher who left the note, but no joy as yet I'm assuming the coords should actually be N 39º 52.293 W 105º 45.822. Checking on Google Earth, I can't see a GC cache there, although a couple of micros are nearby, e.g. GC187HJ. Do you think this ammo can might be an unofficial cache that the guy just placed at those coords? I wonder if someone could help? It's a bit cheeky, but maybe even a local cacher might be willing to check out those coords for us, on a rescue mission? You'd also be helping out TB2RMMQ, another TB in exactly the same predicament! Anyone who helps rescue our TB will have some new friends in England! Thanks. Quote Link to comment

Eartha
Aaaak! A new cacher, who has no finds logged, so we can't even figure out where they've been. Perhaps you should send them the link in my signature to the Groundspeak Knowledge Books, so they can learn a bit more about logging. Also, send the link to the pinned thread at the top of these forums on "How to Log a Travel Bug". You could also try that tb-rescue option mentioned in the post above. Quote Link to comment
abanazar
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've already sent them an email asking them gently what exactly they did with the TBs (eg what sort of a cache are they in -- I even did a Terra search on those coords and came up with nothing either); so too has the owner of the other TB. Unfortunately, they haven't responded. And the TB rescue service appears only to apply to TBs in caches -- I'm not at all convinced the TBs are in a GC, and if they are I don't know which one (search for Colorado, Ammo Can, Under Log?!). Having carefully stated the coords, it seems that some thought has gone into these TB notes. It would have been easier to state a cache name if it were available, as they did with the pick up. I note that they didn't log that cache in the BVI as a find, although the previous handler of my son's TB hadn't logged that properly either (not much luck there -- our TB has gone halfway around the world and currently only shows 64 miles!!). If I had the resources, I'd fly over and go for an exploratory hike myself Quote Link to comment
Eartha
Better post notes to the TB page explaining what happened, in case someone does find it in a cache. You might also get a sympathetic cacher to help you, in Colorado, if you post in the regional forums there. Quote Link to comment
The Wandering Stars
It might be oe of these cache. They are the only ones on the Mary Jane run in Winter Park that mention being an ammo can. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...f8-12d862ac10a5 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...67-08891f155dc9 There is also this cache, but it has no container description: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...62-c7e6574cc81c Quote Link to comment

The Wandering Stars
Many thanks for sifting through and suggesting these. I'll look into them further. No problem. Unfortunately we don't have time at the moment to go out there to go find them, but I'm sure there are other helpfull Colorado cachers around that might be closer/have more time.
