+Ham What Am
I've created a simple log of my activities recovering Benchmarks on my webpage. Combining NGS PID with the WSDOT, including data sheets and photos with descriptions. If I find a source for county and/or city benchmarks, I'll add them as appropriate. This is in addition to the geocache.com log which does not offer PID references to WSDOT markers. http://www.wa7hyd.net/benchmark.html Heavy on-line research into each location utilizing data sheets, Bing & Google Earth mapping, GPS locating and historical photo sources help create project packages that are used when driving to a location, trying to combine trips if at all possible. Comments and suggestions would be appreciated Quote Link to comment

It sure would be nice if geocaching.com would update their 10 year-old data base for benchmarks. Quote Link to comment

+Ham What Am
I stopped by the DOT this morning and they said I could open the covers on the covered monuments as long as I put the cover back on, provided I did not go out in the middle of I-5. Quote Link to comment
Allison Wunderland
First outing this morning. I found the "culvert" but the marker is either destroyed or buried under roadway paving material. I'm finding Google Earth is excellent for finding locations, looking closely at the site and checking coordinates. I have a Garmin Topo application and so can cross check data. But what I'm really getting enthusiastic about is that it gets me out and walking around. My doctor loves it when I do that! I have some "sites" -- FaceBook, and a blog site. Good idea to keep a log about the outings, what I'm finding. Edited May 30, 2010 by Allison Wunderland Quote Link to comment
