+MaxEntropy
Calm down, it's not what you think. I was in the Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite this weekend and I saw in the bottle shop that they were selling souvenier reproductions of the USGS benchmark on El Capitan and the NPS benchmark on top of Half Dome. It's a pretty cool way to commemorate the accomplishment of being on top of those landmarks. It's been a long time since I've been on top of El Capitan and I haven't yet climbed Half Dome so I didn't pick them up. My eagle-eyed kids also spotted benchmarks at the Vernal Falls bridge and on Clark Point. Mickey Max Entropy More than just a name, a lifestyle. Quote Link to comment
+MountainMudbug
Those sound cool! I've never seen any marker reproductions for sale - did you happen to notice the prices? I hope to get to Yosemite someday, fell in love with it when I first saw Ansel Adams' prints. Quote Link to comment

+rogbarn
Take a look at this web site: mountainclimb. They have various replicas of quite a few benchmarks of the higher mountains and other significant places. I have never bought anything from them, but I've been aware of the site for several years. If anyone has anything from them, I'd be interested in hearing about it! Quote Link to comment

Did they have any of those Yosimite Sam mud flaps that say, "Back Off!"? I haven't climbed Half Dome either, but I've made the trek to Klingman's Dome summit. They didn't even have any Smokey Bear tee-shirts there. Quote Link to comment
Jamethiel
I saw some for sale at Devils Tower, WY last Labor Day weekend. They was over $20 so we didn't bother looking too closely at them. It would have made a neat gift for someone who had topped the Tower. -Jennifer Age does not bring wisdom, but it does give perspective. Quote Link to comment
