Wonder how the information was desiminated before computers??? We had several large books with all the data sheets and you would spend hours reading the descriptions looking for marks in the vicinity of the work.

Well for me Elcamino,it really hasn't been that long since I had to use snail mail to get data.

.We have only in the last few years here aquired Internet access.

Some of my early research was done with the help of others so it made it hard not knowing exactly what I was looking for.

But Ima lurnin.

One thing I like about these old data-sheets is that there is often more detail then the later ones have. Like "Vulcan USLS" for instance, it gives the Surveyors name "W. Bowie" and tells when the RM were placed etc. The leveling notes have the crew leaders name and also the months when the work was done. It nice to know who was involved in the history of the area. btw-This mark is still there and has been visited recently by a geocacher/BM hunter.

I have many more of these for my home area. I saved these from the achrives or the trash.
