ginkgoz
Hi! I have a small suggestion: Why not add a 'fun rating' to the websites off the individual geocaches? That way, people who found the cache can give a rating on how much they liked the cache. People, how are looking for interesting geocaches on geocaching.com can select one based on the ratings. One might also think about having more than one rating categories such as fun, scenery of location, etc. What do you think abou that? ginkgoz Quote Link to comment
GOF and Bacall
Welcome to the game. This subject has been discussed darn near to death. The problem is that "fun" is such a subjective idea. What you think is fun may not be the same as someone else. If you search these pages you will find enough reading material on this subject to keep you busy for days. You won't find any consensus though. Quote Link to comment

Rhialto
The problem is that "fun" is such a subjective idea. Terrain could also be subjective in some way... Sometimes I read I would have rated the terrain X instead of Y and same goes for overall difficulty. To answer OP question, while it is not only about the 'fun' factor, www.gcvote.com can give you an idea how a cache is liked. You may query the database by entering the GC code on the left. +Juan Durrer
Download GC Vote: http://www.gcvote.com It's the best cache rating system currently available. I just did this yesterday and can heartily endorse the concept and execution. It seems like quite an undertaking by the developer. From the website: "Right now, GCVote counts 1888148 individual quality ratings for 348777 individual caches in the world and 8693 registered users." That's roughly 1/3 of all active caches. The problem/disappointment for me in the greater Boston area is that virtually 99% of the caches here are unrated. I don't know if the local cachers don't know, don't bother, or don't care. I hope to spread the word at some upcoming meets. Cache on! Quote Link to comment
Rhialto
I hope to spread the word at some upcoming meets. If you also own cache, you may add a banner to your cache description, it could help. People need to see the logo more often. It's also easier to get new geocacher into using it... If I were an english native writer I would try a joke here. Quote Link to comment

+Snoogans
What do you think abou that? ginkgoz Relatively speaking... It's all relative. What you like may not be what I like. I love fried squid. I know the best places to get it in EVERY city that I visit regularly. Some folks won't even use it as bait. Get it? Edited May 13, 2010 by Snoogans Quote Link to comment

First Question: 0 Second Question: Before or after I voted? Answer: 0 and 1 Yeah, I know... but there won't be more votes until someone starts voting! You're here, you know about it now. The download/install is painless, and the interface is seamlessly integrated into the GC.com site. As you're logging, there's a 1,2,3,4,5 for you to click on, just above the text box: Go do it! I just wish it worked on Safari Quote Link to comment

Thanks, I'm going to add banners to all of our team cache hides. Hopefully it'll get more people in my area to use gcvote. Right now there are 2 of us. Quote Link to comment

Right now there are 2 of us. While we are talking of GCVote, you know there is now a facebook page? Maybe some facebook pages/groups will talk about it, share the link. The page was created to be somewhat static and will mostly annouce newer release. When you are fan of many pages/groups you can be flooded rapidly if each add updates every day or so.
